Really think URI is gonna pull out with the win vs Fordham, and I know villanova will put up a fight but i see BC somehow coming out with some BS last minute touchdown or FG..

Fordham 24 Rhode Island 17 - i'd be lying if i said i know anything about either team.
UConn 31 Towson 17 - UConn takes Towson more seriously than LSU (and yes, I saw that game and no, LSU didn't appear to have a pulse). the difference is that LSU is more talented, which is why this one stays fairly close as well.
Delaware 38 Jacksonville 10 - Hens win big.

Saturday
West Virginia 30 W&M 21 - surprised? remember that WVU is replacing its starting QB and top 3 WR's. that's a lot of offense out the door. W&M loses Webb but WVU could be overconfident after stomping JMU last year. W&M has a good recent history in FBS games. i smell a close one, WVU pulls away in the second half.
Boston College 35 Villanova 17 - this one could be closer than i'm anticipating, but i'm sticking with my score here.
Albany 27 Duquesne 14 - i think albany will be much better than many CAA fans are giving them credit for.
JMU 41 CCSU 17 - JMU played unbelievably sloppy football in their game against CCSU a few years ago. COULD happen again, with a brand new offense. far better talent at QB is the difference in this game, though. CCSU is way better than Alcorn St. or St. Francis from last year. game will be competitive until late in the 3rd/early 4th. JMU's physical o-line will take its toll by that time.
Richmond 42 VMI 10 - might not be this close. VMI always seems to struggle against CAA teams, at least the games i've seen. Spiders are going to be really tough this year.
Norfolk State 21 Maine 13 - could see Maine winning, but i'll take the home team in a close one.

No chance WVU puts up 60 points on this Tribe defense, Lehigh. We may lose by 4 or lose by 30 to the 'Neers but Alabama wouldn't lay 60 points on W&M.

Thursday, August 29
Fordham - Ugly game. URI's 5'6 QB can't throw a spiral. Fordam by 12.
Connecticut - Going to be a hell of a game but UConn scores late to win 27-24.
Delaware - The Boo Hens bounce back after a disappointing 2012 season and win by 24.

Saturday, August 31
William & Mary - The Tribe shock the world!!! if only the world cared about this game. 19 Mountaineer turnovers solidifies a W&M victory, 3-0.
#5 Villanova - Upset alert, Nova by 2. Nova is the real deal and BC dropped their final 4 games last year.
Albany - by 17, Scooby Doos have too much offense.
#19 James Madison - by 17, JMU squeaked out a victory 14-9 two years ago but this year's Dukes defense is expected to be aces.
#15 Richmond - Another blowout, by 34 + points.
Maine - NSU surprised Liberty last season, then **** the bed. Maine wins by 27.

I'll go with these picks as well.

Notes for FBS games:
I see W&M going back and forth with WVU for the first half, before Mountaineers pull away.
Towson will be within one score at some point in the 4th quarter before, as often happens, the depth of the FBS team with their extra schollies makes the difference.
Nova I could very well see leading at some point in the 4th, I predict a one score game under 5, but I think Daz will be pulling out all the stops to not have his first game a loss to lower opponent. And I think he knows that going in, so it won't necessarily be something in the last 5 minutes, it might be going for it on 4th down early or a trick play or onsides kick or something, but from what I hear out of BC camp he acknowledges he has the same talent level Spaz left behind so his approach is to instill some enthusiasm and pride in the guys.

Rhode Island @ Fordham - URI with something to prove in an upset.
#11 Towson @ Connecticut - Towson is capable of winning this game. CT, not that long in FBS will not overlook them.
Jacksonville @ Delaware - Delaware welcomes Jax to the upper end of FCS.

Saturday, August 31
William & Mary @ West Virginia - Two teams in search of a QB. Ugly, low scoring game. Team with fewest TO's win. W&M has better defense.
#5 Villanova @ Boston College - Villanova has something to prove after Big East invitation was pulled back. BC is trying to find way with new coach.
Albany @ Duquesne - Coach Ford's final season starts with a win.
Central Connecticut State @ #19 James Madison - Closer than most think, but JMU has better D.
VMI @ #15 Richmond - VMI injures Richmond players with "enthusiastic" play, but does no damage to UR record.
Maine @ Norfolk State - Upset special. Trying to predict a Cosgrove coached team is problematic. I'm going with the home team by a hair.

Week 1 Winners:

Fordham
Uconn
Delaware
WVU
Villanova
Albany
Richmond
JMU
Maine

Regarding the FCS versus FBS games, I know very little about what Uconn returns this year but suspect Towson is in a tight game in the 4Q. Same for VU and I think they have the Moxy to pull it out late. I think WM is a major sleeper in the CAA this year but this looks like a tough spot. Holgy is the type of guy that won't call off the dogs late, either.

Injury statistics show more W&M players hurt against VMI than other opponents. VMI's play tends to be more spirited and enthusiastic than that others, which can lead to injuries.

I have no way of knowing how sore they are, but they are generally gracious in defeat.

So a Norfolk State team that went 2-6 in the MEAC is going to beat a Maine team that returns a decent quarterback, gets its best defensive player back from injury, and was halfway decent in the CAA last year? Curious.

Our overall record with VMI seems strange. After the 1982 season, we were 23-38-5. Since then, we are 20-2.

But then again they haven't had winning season in that time either.

We are a lot younger than even most of us expected. Almost 100 yards in penalties. Tons of R-Fr and So's playing. Talent is there. Chemistry and poise are not yet. Misalignments and misassignments kill you every time.
