A three-time all-league quarterback at Villa Park HS, Boyce led his team to a pair of league titles. He was named first-team all-league as both a junior and senior. The two-year team captain passed 4,263 yards and 29 touchdowns in his three varsity seasons, while also running for six scores. He helped Villa Park HS to the CIF playoffs in each of his three seasons as a starter, including reaching the quarterfinals as a junior. Boyce won the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete award as a senior after earning team and league MVP honors. He was named to the Orange County All-Star team and was one of the top 35 recruits by OC Varsity. Boyce was invited to try out for the U.S. Under-19 National Football Team.
