Coastal Carolina junior linebacker Quinn Backus is one of 33 players named to the watch list for the 2013 FCS National Defensive Performer of the Year Award as named by the College Football Performance Awards.
Earlier this summer, the CFPA selected Backus as one of the top returning linebackers in the country. Backus (Greenwood, S.C.) is a 2013 preseason third team All-American by The Sports Network and was voted the 2013 Big South Preseason Defensive Player of the Year after earning the same honor at the conclusion of last season. Backus set a record by being the Big South Defensive Player of the Week five times and set a CCU single-season record with 139 tackles.
