He earned his first varsity letter in 2011 after playing running back and on special teams in eight games. Dillard carried the ball four times for 27 yards, returned one kickoff for 27 yards and made a pair of tackles during the season. He had his first career carries against Wagner, running the ball three times for 22 yards, inclduing a career-best 14-yard run.Dillard spent his freshman season on the scout team.

A two-time all-county pick at Churchville-Chili Senior HS, Dillard was a team captain as a senior. The three-year letter winner played running back, wide receiver and cornerback. Dillard was invited to play in the Section V Eddie Meath Senior All-Star game in 2010. He was also a two-year member of the track and field team as a sprinter and was a three-time National High School Power Clean champion and record holder.
