Rodriguez earned his first varsity action as a sophomore in 2012 with an appearance against Monmouth after not seeing field time as a freshman. He is expected to challenge for a larger role on offense and special teams in 2013.

Rodriguez was a two-time all-county selection as a wide receiver at Belen Jesuit Prep, and in his junior season he helped the team finish as the state runner-up. He was a two-year letter winner and three-year member of the football team, and a five-year letter winner in track and field. In his junior year Rodriguez was part of a 4x100 relay team that won the state title, and in 2007 he helped Belen Jesuit Prep become the Florida Track and Field state champions. Rodriguez also won the regional title for both the long jump and 100m in 2010, and graduated as a three-time district long jump champion.
