The Islanders pledged unprecedented faith in goaltender Rick DiPietro this week, signing him to a 15-year, $67.5 million contract, the longest in NHL history. It's the second-longest player contract in major North American team sports history. Who had the longest?

2nd Longest in NHL history was the NYI also giving Alexi Yashin a 10 yr deal in 2001, and now are saddled with that contract too rich to even trade him!
