I remember leaving work early for Garrett's FB practices his JR and SR years in HS. Its a bitch that Statesboro is 3-1/2 hours away...

I just wonder how many other programs can say the same that Samford can today on the first day of fall camp.

1. NO injury that keeps any player from participating.
2. EVERY signee is in camp.
3. NO player lost from last year's traveling squad other than the seniors.
That is an attrition rate that probably few teams can match. Just hope our team stays mostly injury free and the excitement continues.

Head coach Chris Mussman and his squad took to the Memorial Stadium field for the first time this fall on a perfect morning for football. With temperatures hovering in the high 60s and low 70s throughout on a sun-drenched day in Grand Forks, the team got in 18 periods of work.

"I really liked what I saw today. Both sides of the ball had good energy and played at a nice tempo," Mussman said afterwards. "It was a great start to our practices. I liked what our coaches were doing. Everything was crisp."

Liberty goes to full pads tomorrow evening for the first time, so now we really will get to see just who the leaders in the position battles will be.

Not a whole lot of starters on offense or defense played today. No pads just running simple "hike" schemes and defense patterns. Hopefully will see more tomorrow!
