Hoyas and new DC United Stadium

In the same way that Villanova plays the Delaware game at Philadelphia Union's park, could Georgetown play some of their more interesting games at the new DC United Stadium which will be built near National's Park? While at 20,000 seats it will be too large for most of their games, maybe a game or two a season versus foes like Villanova or one of the PL's better teams might help to heighten interest in the gridiron Hoyas. The new stadium looks like it will be pretty darn nice.

At least with the UD/nova game, if you play the football game after the soccer season is over you don't have to worry about it as much. That was one of the hiccups nova never fully answered when they were floating the idea of playing home FBS games at PPL - were they going to backload all their home games every year to minimize the disruption to soccer?

IMHO, the Hoyas ought to concentrate on its existing, on-campus facility. The cost of leasing time at a soccer venue could make a dynamic impact at MSF. Georgetown simply needs to clean the place up, add some better visitor's stands, establish a modest locker/toilet facility of some sort and provide at least something for the visiting press. There's plenty of room and they know they can do it. It doesn't have to be the Taj Mahal.

Right. The Union's regular season ends October 26. However, MLS Cup isn't until December 7. There would be some interesting chats about the Union potentially hosting a conference final with football lines and a torn up field.

Mexico does the same, and its English language broadcast rights in the States was granted to ESPN. However, the other four nations in the Hex (Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras) all bundled the rights to air their home games against the US in the US together, and put it out to bid. The thinking was they could make more money as a group than they could individually. BeIN won those rights. I think the same group of four did the same for Mexico matches, which ESPN won.

that field was messed up b/c international soccer is only played on grass.

I'm sure college football could be played on a grass soccer field without problem.
