Deion Branch might return as soon as Week 2, but it won't be with the Patriots.

New England traded the disgruntled wide receiver to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2007 first-round draft pick on Monday, ESPN.com's Michael A. Smith has confirmed.

Like stealing candy from a baby; the Pats are simply smarter than everyone else. Giving up a #1 for nothing more than a pretty good WR is stupid IMO.

I would give up a first rounder to get rid of a headache. If Branch didn't want to be there, get rid of him.

Huh? The Seahawks are giving up a first rounder for a headache in return. I'm a Pats fan and i think this is a great trade. Hopefully the Super Bowl jinx will continue for the loser and the Seahawks pick will be top 15. The Pats are in position to make another run over the next couple of years, their front office is rediculously good. They have their RB, WR, and TE of the future plus two first round picks in the spring draft. Their DL and OL is set for the comming years so there's little worry there. I'm guessing they use their pick on either a LB or DB/S as they are either getting old at those positions.

a 1st round WR would be much better than this ass on your team

I dont know about that...why is he an ass? The man just felt as if he was being underpaid. Truth be told Tom Brady is the only one that's getting real money on the team. The Pats are going to struggle this year regardless..they've gotten rid of all of their receivers. Their struggle against the Bills shows that...had the Bills QB not been stupid enough to get that safety the Bills probably wouldve won.

That's not true. Richard Seymour is paid very competively after last years new contract. Corey Dillion is still doing pretty well too when consider he's no longer a feature back. No one else on the team is deserving of a huge contract. Bruschi and Harrison are up in age and no one is going to pay them more than what the Pats do if they have half a brain. Branch is an ass because he was under contract, one he agreed to ala TO, and decided it was no longer good enough so he decided he would no longer play for the Pats and rather be a selfess bitch. He's not even that good, in fact i would rather Givens but for what Titans offered him he wasn't worth resigning either. The Pats will have one of the strongest running games in the league and if either Caldwell or Jackson step up they will have a potent passing attack with Watson at TE. They have a great OL and DL which are both more important in the long run than wr's. The Pats will in the thick of things this year. Maybe they use their two first rounders to after a guy like Calvin Johnson, Jarrett or Samardzija.

Branch signed a contract, you play it out, then ask for more money. Otherwise you are an ass in my book. Basically, his signature means nothing. If you can't be a man of your word, then in my book, you are not a man.:twocents:

If you can't be a man of your word, then in my book, you are not a man.:twocents:the problem is the Patriots gave him permission to negotiate a trade, which he did with the Jets for a 2nd round pick, but the Patriots then reneged on trading him - so after the Patriots reneged on their agreement to trade him, I can understand why he would hold out. I also understand why the Patriots wouldn't trade him to a division rival, but that should have been made clear when they gave him permission to seek a trade.

In any event I imagine the hawks 1st round pick will be very late, and Branch might be what the hawks need to avoid the curse.

They didn't renig, they just didn't think the trade was good enough. Giving someone permission to seek a trade does not give them permission to have final say over the trade. Besides, thats irrelevant, he was an ass long before they gave him permission for a trade. They wouldn't have had to give permission if he had lived up to his contract, thats my point. The Patriots were "the bigger man" IMO.
