UND has clinched a playoff berth!!!

I take it that you're referring to a spot in the Big Sky conference tourney?

UNI vb had a bit of a slow start due to having a very young and inexperienced team (graduated 5 seniors last year, all of whome played big roles; plus lost their starting setter and two others over the offseason due to other reasons). They lost more matches in the non-conference than is the norm for them, plus dropped a couple matches in the first half of conference play. But they've made their way back to the top of the MVC standings as the season progressed.

UNI is kind of in a similar situation as UND, sitting at the top of the conference standings (for now), but will have to travel to the tough second place team's home court for the conference tournament (Wichita State for the MVC, Portland State for the BSC). Both conferences have the same type format for conference tournament (6 teams, top 2 get a bye), held on the same weekend. Though the MVC plays its quarterfinals on the evening of Thanksgiving, while it looks like the BSC plays theirs on Friday morning, with the semis that evening.

Unfortunately, the MVC is down this year (in terms of RPI and Pablo), due in part to UNI's slow start, but probably more due to Creighton leaving (and replacing them with a not-as-good Loyola-Chicago program), and none of the other schools garnering any "spotlight" non-conference wins either. So instead of 3 or 4 NCAA bids as has been the case the past few years, it will likely be a 1-bid conference, with a slight chance of 2 bids.

Lol, NDSU changed coaches and the Volleyball team went to ****. We won like crazy pretty much every single season since we first went DI, and I'm not even sure we won a single game this year.

2007: 20-8
2008: 24-4
2009: 23-4
2010: 20-11
2011: 26-9

4-19 (4 to go) this year, lol.

UND has just hired their new HC:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Athletics director Brian Faison announced on Monday that Mark Pryor has been named the head volleyball coach at the University of North Dakota. The 15-year collegiate coaching veteran arrives in Grand Forks following a four-year stint as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Baylor.
“We are excited to have Coach Pryor lead our volleyball program,” Faison said. “He is the real deal and brings a tremendous mix of coaching experience and enthusiasm for the sport. He is an exceptional recruiter, develops great players, connects well with people and is firmly committed to the academic success of the student-athletes.”
In his first three seasons with the Big XII program, Pryor helped the Bears increase their win total from 16 in 2010, to 18 in 2011 and 20 in 2012. Pryor’s 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes at Baylor were both ranked in the top 20 nationally.
