Every year I look forward to the NFL starting, this year was no different. And today as usual it only takes me about a half of football to realize that compared to college the NFL is a snooze fest. There are no upsets to root for, I feel zero connection to any of the teams. Nobody is a little guy fighting goliath. Last but not least, right now all the games are in the 3rd quarter & the average is score is probably 10-7. :read: :read: xcoffeex xcoffeex Anyone else feel this way?

The beginning of the NFL season is boring IMO too. I've had the games on all day more as just background noise. The games are very anticlimatic and if it wasn't for fantansy i'd have very little interest right now. As the season moves on i'll get into it a little more. There is just too much player suffling and what not that there is very little stability. Once the teams start to seperate themselves in a few weeks and the games become more important i'll get into it. By the middle of October the NFL gets better, either way it still can't hold college footballs jockstrap.

Generally agreed, although the Phleagles' slow start had my attention until they started hitting on all cylinders. T.O. who? McNabb to Stallworth!

Oh Snap! :p
Was hiking in Glacier NP yesterday and then saw the score (and the UNI and SFA scores) when I got home after midnight on a rerun of the local news... couldn't beleive it
anyways- I actually am catching a piece of the Sunday night game... only because it has implications in my fantasy league this week though

Hansel,
Where did you hike in Glacier?
Hiked up to Ptarmigan tunnel and then to Iceberg Lake from the trailhead around the many glacier hotel- there was more people hiking than what I expected- but it wasn't overly crowded. Did see a couple of bears- but we didn't get eaten :)

I love the NFL!! My preference of football is BCS college football, NFL and then I-AA. I enjoy them all but if I could see them in person that would be my preference.

Not if you're a Saints fan (after a win, which have few and far between the past couple of years)
Here's the picture of Marques Colston (Hofstra) hitting the end zone for the Saints' lone TD

Could be an East Coast thing and have something to do with your closest team being quite a ways away. Missoula to Seattle = 475 miles. In 475 miles I can get to Washington, Baltimore, Philly, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Carolina, NYG, NYJ, New England, (even Cincy is only 506). I have a lot of interaction with fans from many of those teams (never met a Bengals fan though).
I think there's also some cool story lines like Manning v. Manning last night (but boy is the Giants Stadium field hard to watch on TV, looks like CRAP), the debut of Bush, TO in Dallas, Philly without TO... Was definitely pulling for the Bills over the Pats in a little bit of a David/Goliath thing.

NFL is awesome. It's the highest quality of play in all of football, imo. That can't be boring!!

Disagree.
Cap'n Cat enjoys the fact that there are hundreds and hundreds of teams in college football and you can tailgate and get in to a huge, overwhelming majority of them with ease and low cost. There are thousands and thousands of great stories associated with college ball at all these institutions and you could spend a lifetime only getting to a fraction of them.
College football is much more exciting and the guys are not playing for a paycheck (except at Youngstown and Florida State); rather, they're playing for the guys next to them.
The NFL is a league of overpaid 15 yr olds.

The lone reason was Abraham. No matter who the Panthers put on him they just couldnt do anything to stop him from getting to Delhomme. That was the difference in the game.

Really, I thought it was the MLB, as they HAVE to sit on thier butts half of the time(when they're team is up to bat)
But anyway, i agree nothing beats college football, two teams duking it out not for money, but for a chance to play in the coveted match on Dec. 15th. or whenever Bull Crap Series has their championship

As far as proffesional sports go, NFL is top dog for many reasons.
Of course college football has advantages over it, but there still has to be the next level. I say follow them both.
I-AA, NFL, BCS that's my order. Sorry but you have to have a championship to get out of the cellar!!!
