I keep reading Erk Russel's name dropped into a lot of threads, even on the smack forum.

Erk Russel was not just a figure in Georgia Southern's history, but is one of the most famous sports figures in the state of Georgia and around the southeast. He was loved and revered by all who knew him and followed his career.

Please, if you can help it, don't just casually toss his name around on this forum. You end up stepping on a lot more toes than just those of GSU fans.

I could give a rip about Ga Southern.
But grew up in Augusta had many friends who went to GSU(mostly the ones who did not get into UGA). Being in Augusta was a casual fan of UGA and first remember Erk from the and this is a guess 77? sugar Bowl when he was on the sideline pregame head butting his helmetted players.
His head was a mess and as an aspiring high school defensive lineman I thought he was the greatest thing ever.
A great man who will be missed.
I did think though that his Bulldogs honored him with a Spurrior led Gamecock shutout, was impressive.
