McKinnon. Because he doesn't throw the ball. He only runs it. xlolx

Ojuri has a tougher road with Crockett splitting time with him. Good problem to have if you are NDSU. I think McKinnon (one of the best weapons I saw all year last year), Bell, and Flanders (needs to improve on shedding tackles...does go down a bit too easy it seems) are all solid candidates to get looks.

Truly believe McKinnon will fly up the draft boards. Especially after the combine. He's going to make JJ's numbers look pedestrian in every single measurable.

I thought Flanders did fine against anyone else, but our defense just had his number the past two years. Zenner sheds tackles like a mad-man and look what we did to him.

The ONLY guy who I saw that actually shed tackles well last year was B-stein from Wofford.

He didn't shed tackles as much as he just carried people for an extra 2-3 yards. It was tough to watch at times (kinda that helpless feeling). One stat that would be really telling if it was available would be yards after contact for a few of these guys.

I stand corrected. Bowling guys over may be a better way to state it even.

That stat exists in the NFL, no? We NEED to get that at the FCS levels.

Voted for Bell but I'm a bit surprised not to see Zenner of South Dakota State on the list.

Zenner is a junior. I only put seniors.

Good point... JM's a weight room legend at GSU. His numbers are eye popping for a back.

I voted for:
1. Bell - best pure RB in the FCS IMO. Hope he doesn't get killed his senior year.
2. McKinnon - great runner, fast, agile
3. Flanders - good size, gets a lot of hype, but not sure it's warranted against the better defenses in the league

What are they?

I tried to find them but was unable due to time constraints...

However, he benches well over 400 and squats well over 500, and those are last year's numbers. I also seem to remember seeing where he power cleaned around 400.

He won the "Iron Works" award at the 2012 GSU football banquet for strength and conditioning dedication and was named a strength and conditioning all american in 2012.

Found it. The 40 time is irrelevant because the times are always relative to the method of measurement. His 40 at the combine will let you know what his 40 really is. I would also like to see his form on squat and clean. Just curious how high the standards are for form at GSU. Some schools have great athletes and terrible standards for lifts like Clemson for example. Watch their lifting videos, it's like a crossfit fail compilation. This guy defiantly has some great numbers though, no disputing that.

"Georgia Southern University Jerick McKinnon Sport: Football Position: Quarterback

He is always the first one to the gym, often arriving twenty minutes before a workout, and the last one to leave. He pushes himself beyond the limits of a normal athlete. As it regards to physical strength, Jerick is abnormal. He is stronger than most everyone on the team including many linemen that outweigh him by 100 lb. His strong work ethic and leadership is noticed and appreciated by every one of his teammates. During workouts, guys will stop working to watch and admire Jerick perform a set. The saying “hard work pays off,” has certainly been the case for Jerick. He has worked himself into starting roles at four different positions on both offense and defense. It is a special privilege to work with and coach such a rare athlete. – Anonymous"

A guy that youre going to want to keep an eye on is Aldreakis Allen at Liberty. If he gets back on the field, you have to think he is going to want to build on what was the first 1000 yard season for a RB since Rashad Jennings in 2008.

Those are going to be old numbers too. Last I heard his numbers from over the summer were close to 500 on bench and 600 on squat, and I think blueballs is right that his clean is close to 400. He's probably the strongest guy on the team at this point. Genetics and chocolate milk have been good for that young man.

McKinnon benched 505 in the spring. Pretty close to a school record. Wouldn't be surprised if he topped that in the fall.

Fordham's Carlton Koonce may well be invited, however, his size, or lack of size, precludes him from being a NFL RB. He certainly has demonstrated abilities that merit him a look for an offensive position. I believe he is on the "watch list" or whatever it is called for the Payton Award. Good luck to them all.

I am sure it is safe to say that the only time you have seen Flanders play is against NDSU. The last two years, nobody has been able to run against the NDSU defense.

Flanders played against 4 of the top 20 rush defenses in the FCS last year.....

#4 NDSU 19 att 53 yds
#8 Montana St 31 att 123yds
#12 McNeese St 19 att 105yds
#15 SFA 27 att 134yds

The hype is completely warranted. How could it not be......

Back to back appearances in FCS National Championship Game (2011-2012)
Two-time Walter Payton Award finalist and All-American Selection (2011-2012)
Back to Back Southland Conference "Player of the Year"(2011 & 2012)
Southland Conference "Freshman of the Year" (2010)
First Team All Southland Conference (2010,2011,2012)

Holds 31 Sam Houston St records including all-time leader in rushing and scoring.

Enters 2013 only 461 yds away from being All-Time leader in rushing in Southland Conference History.

Flanders is a legit running back and I am sure he will play at the next level somewhere.

Flanders is good but NFL scouts have him as a free agent right now. The big knock on him is that he needs to get stronger, faster, and they want to see him improve as a blocker.

RB is very hard to make it in the NFL coming from FCS. There aren't a whole lot who have. Look at GSU's Adrian Peterson. He had a career in the NFL as a backup and he was considered the best in FCS/I-AA history. I think Flanders goes to the Raycom, Casino Del Sol, Texas vs Nation, or NFLPA Game and then is a likely undrafted free agent unless he really shows improvement in the above mentioned areas.

FLANDERS not SANDERS, but Im sure he would appreicate the compliment.xnodx

I would agree he needs to improve on his blocking. Hasnt been a strong suit, but he isnt asked to do it very often since most of the time he is given a fake handoff as the dive back or releases out of the backfield into pass routes. Yes it is tough and I dont know that he will get drafted to the NFL, but will have a shot. I could see him ending up in Canada.

I dont think we have seen the best of Flanders yet. I think he still has plenty left in the tank to show. Part of me thinks that Fritz has held the reigns back a bit. There were many blowout games the last two years that Fritz pulled him out early. I would really like to see what he could do when he is let loose to do his thing... However, I do think the hype is warranted....Just my opinion.

Sorry about the typo. He is good but there is a lot of good RBs in FCS this year. He, Shakir Bell, Zach Bauman, etc are all really good players with a shot to get drafted.

Someone asked about Allen from Liberty and I think he has a shot. He needs to play though. With the character flag he now has he will need a huge year and mid round value grades for someone to definitely give him a shot.

Are people really thinking McGhee could be a RB? Sure he can make people miss in open space as a QB scrambling when the defense is expecting a pass, but I don't think he could be an every down between the tackles kind of guy. Although he is probably physically talented enough.. runs around a 4.5, 5'11 212... to play as a RB in the FCS anyway.
