Given that I will be living 600 miles from Fargo, I will attend a bunch of games, relatively.

8/31 @ Kansas St. (no brainer - 90 miles from my house)
9/28 @ South Dakota St
maybe 10/12 homecoming v Mo State or
10/23 South Dakota

Of course, if all goes well, once again in Frisco in the first week of January.

It's my 6th year with Citadel season tickets so all home games are a go. It is a pretty good round trip drive to Charleston and back from Middle Georgia. 268 miles each way or about 4 hours. Way easier when I was young. Also a lot of away games in play for me this year. I can make 10 if I can talk my wife into the Chatt and WCU games. Plus whatever playoffs I hope we make.

31 Aug - Chas So - Charleston:)
7 Sep - Wofford - Charleston:)
14 Sep - @WCU - Cullowhee - Maybe - 238 miles to a house I have and 50 Miles from there (but 6.5 hrs total each way due to mountains)xeyebrowx
21 Sep - @ODU - Norfolk - No - 637 miles, way too far:(
28 Sep - Furman - Charleston:)
5 Oct - App St - Charleston:)
12 Oct - @GaSo - Statesboro - Yes, 119 miles, an easy 2 hour drive...a day trip!:D
26 Oct - @Chatt - Chattanooga - maybe, 222 miles, 3.5 hours but through Atlanta, ugh! A day trip as well. xeyebrowx
2 Nov - Samford - Charleston:)
9 Nov - @Elon - Elon - No - 419 miles, way too far:(
16 Nov - VMI - Charleston:)
23 Nov - @Clemson - Clemson - Yes - 238 to house and 55 miles from there:) A great venue! Went to the Cid/Clemson game in 08 and had an awesome time, our bands even played a concert together before the game and played during halftime together....alot different than the Princeton experiencexrolleyesx

9/7 Sacred Heart (Can't miss the home opener.)
9/14 William & Mary (Expecting a good game.)
9/21 @ Penn (Only going if it's a day game, which isn't likely.)
10/5 Bucknell (1st League game.)
10/12 @ Princeton (Looks close on a map, but not easy to get to. A very depressing game. Probably won't attend, but...)
10/19 @ Harvard (With my favorite 7-year old.)
11/9 Colgate (Never one I look forward to.)
11/16 Fordham (Warmup for the big one.)
11/23 @ Lehigh (149) (I will be dug up and taken to this game for 20 years after I'm dead. It's in the will.)

That's seven for certain and two maybes.

NDSU couldn't hang with A&M. That's not a slight against NDSU, but that's a big jump in competition compared to their latest FBS foes. Going to play in Kyle Field is rough

It's incredible to go see a game once in person there though, but Sam doing it back to back years..I probably wouldn't go either.

I really don't want to go see us play Tech, but not because I think we will lose, but it's two air raid offenses going against eachother..that's going to be a 4 and a half hour long game in 100 degree heat in the ****hole that is Lubbock.

I was excicted about the Baylor game last year and Sam had opportunities to pull off the upset in Waco but you cannot even compare A&M and Baylor. Kyle Field is on a different level. I wish the best of luck to NDSU. The Bison should also have opportunites to pull off an upset at K State but if you think the Bison could really pull off a win or even keep it close for 3/4 quarters at the Aggies or Alabamas of the nation then you need to stop drinking the green and gold kool-aid.

As long as they don't rub it in again and let lil' Johhny kick extra points, I'm cool with a butt kicking for a check. Its just not something I want to experience in person. Hopefully we come out of the game healthy this year and be ready for EWU. Thats the game I am excited for.

As you should be. I am always excited to see my Bulldogs go against good FBS team. We had some good wins in the early 90s and we have had some good games (well, at least good first halves) against Wisconsin, Clemson, and SC lately. Did I think we had a good chance of winning. No not really, but the games were exciting nonetheless. At the half, we we tied against Wisconsin at 21 in 2007, at Clemson in 2008 we were down 21-7 at half, and we were only down 20-13 at USC in 2011. We have also been blown out by a bunch of FBS powerhouses, but I have always been excited that my team was playing against the top level.

Honestly, it's a football game for christ sake. They don't shoot your kneecaps off if you lose. How can you not be excited to have your team under the big lights punching a nationally ranked team in the mouth, even if it's only for the first half?

I know. Alot of folks say that it is not worth it except for the money, but I think there are other intangible benefits. Players get some good experience, maybe even some confidence, and school gets some publicity even if it is only the score being posted. And that is even if they lose, if they keep it close or even win, goodness knows what might happen. You might even decide to move up a division....:D Sorry App bubbas, I could not resist it. Just know everyone in FCS was proud of your win. It is arguably the catalyst that actually propelled you up even if you had previous visions of moving. I actually do not like years where we do not play an FBS opponent. There have not been many, but a couple.

You guys, by far, bring the most fans to Charleston of any school.

Paging CID1990...

Huh? I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. The only thing I have said on this in the past is that the two biggest visiting crowds I have seen in Chas have been CSU and Elon. That's based on just eyeballing the crowd and not any specific numbers.

ASU always travels well, especially to Charleston- you guys hear the call of women with teeth, that big ol pond called an ocean, indoor plumbing and buildings made out of something other than clapboard and you load granny in the back of the truck and flock down in droves.

I could have sworn it was you that kept saying that Furman traveled better than App a while back.

Nope, I think I maybe said that Elon travels well (at least to Charleston) and CSU always brings a big crowd (because they are right up the road). Overall, I'd think ASU consistently brings a big group, but outside of WCU, Chatty and Samford, everyone travels well to Charleston. It would be hard to say who actually brings more people.

Well, in that case, my apologies sir.

I'm moving there. I'll be living 5 minutes from the stadium, if it was 10 minutes...it might not be worth the trip.

I refuse to go watch us get beat up by the Ags.

I have a funny feeling about this one Sammy. True, they have pitbulls for players but imho, SHSU has a few as well. I hope the ground game of SHSU is on point and makes it a looooooong drawn out low-scoring affair. I believe in Fritz and his capable staff.

All I am doing is eyeballing as well in regard to the actual visitors. I have no visitor figures. There were many years that I could not get back to Charleston for more than a game every couple years, but I have seen every home game in 08-12 and in those 5 years I have seen alot of crowds, and by my eye balls App seemed to easily have the best crowd. Specific overall attendance figures for the App games in Charleston were 14238 in '09 and 14154 in '11. In 2011 that was the highest attendance. In '09 the App game (14238) was third in attendance behind Furman (14403) and the Wofford game (15155). But considering that the Wofford game was homcoming can easily explain the jump. Actually, the one school that surprised me was GaSo. I always thought that their crowds would be bigger than they actual were. They do not seem to fill the stadium well in Charleston. BUt there is no doubt that I think all visitors like the trip to Charleston. I may ask the gal in the ticket office to give me the lowdown on the visitor numbers.

Charleston is a great town. Spent three days there this spring. One of my best long weekend trips ever. That said, it is a LONG drive from Birmingham. You'll probably never see much of a Samford crowd, but I'm definitely up for a return engagement next time the SU Dogs are in town.

It's interesting that CSU travels well when no one goes to their home games.

Maybe it's the excitement of going downtown where the sinners are? or maybe just seeing a game in a real stadium?

NDSU couldn't hang with A&M. That's not a slight against NDSU, but that's a big jump in competition compared to their latest FBS foes. Going to play in Kyle Field is rough
I see no reason why NDSU couldn't hang with A&M, particularly early in the season, before lack of depth becomes a factor. If everything pans out like it should, I think NDSU has a for-realz top-25 team this year.

Now alabama, stanford, or oregon, those hypothetical games might be a little different. Oregon would be the worst, since their style would most expose the lack of high-quality depth.

Of course they could, in the same way that some of the good SOCON teams hung with SEC teams the last couple years. They all got beat, but they kept it close for a while. One or two scores at half or going into the fourth. I also think NDSU would still lose, but they could keep it close for two or three quarters. And you are right, early in the season it might be tighter. But unless the stars align perfectly, they would still get beat in the end by a team like A&M every time.

I will be at all of App State's home games (6,) one definite road game (Elon,) and one likely road game (The Citadel) for 7 or 8 games. I will also be at each of the Carolina Panthers 10 home games and one road trip for the San Francisco game. So that makes 18 or 19 games this season.

I will make all five home games, and most away games, depending on trial schedule. Trip to Colgate could be problematic due to time constraints, but all the others are easy drives.

Lehigh has a very favorable road schedule for traveling this year. The back-2-back trips to NYC should be fun!

Andy has talked me into adding Georgetown to the list. I get free lodging in DC and family attaboys for going to all the trouble to visit. That means the only sure miss will be Holy Cross, but Princeton and Pennsylvania continue in the unlikely category.

For Harvard, maybe one. The closest game to my house this year is at Columbia. I may head up to Ithaca for the Cornell game. If the game sucks, the leaf-peeping is OK.:p

I usually try to hit one GSU game a year. Have to talk to my good friends Baldy, blueballs and Eaglesrus about that!xnodx
