I've decided to post this on here because Jim is from my small town of Buffalo Lake, MN, my high school and my church. Delaware decided to cut the track program where he was the long time head coach. Jim, and the family that he came from, was a great group.

No, me either! Maybe the Blue Hen fans have better information.
Jim's brother Tom coaches track in the Twin Cities. His other brother Richard used to coach the Saudi Olympic team. He told me some great stories about that. Their dad Wally was a truck and a school bus driver. Very nice, quiet man who was very supportive of his kids and the school. Class acts, all of them.

They announced this what seems like two years ago now due to, supposedly, Title IX issues.

Get rid of football. That solves a lot of title IX issues.

There weren't any actual Title IX issues, they just wanted to drop the sport and decided to use a scapegoat instead of simply saying they wanted to cut it.

The irony of "equality"...much more often than not you are tearing down men's sports rather than advancing women's sports. What good does nuking a men's sport to stay in compliance do except make PC dunderheads feel warm and fuzzy inside?

you can't tell me there isn't a reason they chose a men's sport, though. It'll be much less likely to bite them in the *** down the road.

Was it just men's XC/track they dropped - or the entire running program?

Jim Fisher was the coach when I arrived at UD in 1981. Great guy - after I blew out a knee and could no longer compete, he kept me involved with the program by having me specifically hired as a chemistry tutor for T&F athletes who needed one.

Why do you always go so extreme with your comments? Get a life.

Jim's brother posted the article online yesterday, which is when I read it. Evidently, OhioHen thought Jim was a good guy too.

I was trying to provoke some commentary from him on the possibility of Delaware dropping football at some point in the future. I've read on here in some thread (maybe from him) that the president hates football.
