Not sure how they are going to tax us yet, but here is the new design. The electronic pull-tabs are not generating any money, so Governor Mark Dayton has to find a way to fund the stadium, even though the bill has passed to build it.

The slope of the roof will also allow for easier snow removal. The Metrodome's Teflon roof infamously collapsed during a storm in December 2010, forcing the Vikings to play their last two home games that season elsewhere.Link (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000169306/article/minnesota-vikings-unveil-images-of-new-downtown-stadium)

I hate it. Maybe it will grow on me but I really hate it.

what a waste of money. there is a perfectly adequate stadium 2 miles away

Glad I don't live in Minnesota, they will tax the people or cut funding to things like education or roads.

The stadium is being built on the Metrodome site. TCF is too small for a permanent Vikings stadium and the infrastructure getting to the game is terrible at the U.

Nope. Ultimately if the funding runs short, they'll approve the Racino. That's why the tribes wanted to pay for it outright, to avoid the competition. There are several revenue streams they can go to before they use taxes.

There are other options before taxes, but Mark Dayton hasn't seen a tax he doesn't love.

It's a nice stadium and I guess the train will eventually go there. It was a traffic mess when the Vikings played there a couple years ago. Add 20,000 more people and it will be even worse.

Wow that really is not a good looking stadium.

Agreed. I don't understand the obsession with asymmetry.

Looks like Dayton is suddenly in favor of a cigarette tax. Doesn't bother me, I don't smoke. I do think it's funny that they are so chicken **** of the tribes that they won't approve the slots at Canterbury.

a billion is alot to drop due to a temporary traffic issue.

I still remember a classic Jessie Ventura quote when he was governor...if the Indians can get money from a casino why can't the state of Minnesota do the same. So true.

I don't care to go to an event that takes an hour or more to get to from 20 miles away. The Metrodome was just fine for football, going to a game at TCF is not in the works for me. The Arden Hills site had better financing than this does, and the state is currently upgrading the roads in that area even though that was a complaint when the site was proposed. I had no problem seeing the Vikings move to Los Angeles vs paying for this stadium, I just don't think TCF is a great NFL venue.
