Starting center John Gardiner to miss season with torn ACL

The Sam Houston State basketball team received some bad news recently when it found out starting center John Gardiner will miss the upcoming season.
Gardiner, who was a major part of the Bearkats run through the Southland Conference tournament last season, tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during a pickup basketball game.
The 6-8 senior form Mesopotamia, Saint Vincent had successful surgery Friday and will not be cleared to practice until February. The Bearkats will file for a medical redshirt in hopes to get Gardiner back on the court for the 2007-08 season.
