Kutztown qualified for the USBC National Championships for the third time in three years, and NEC Bowler of the Week Brooke Bower's performance at this past weekend’s USBC Allentown Regional was a key reason why the Golden Bears were able to secure the spot. Bower spearheaded the team’s third-place finish at the USBC Sectionals by taking down 20.2 pins per frame over the course of the entire competition. In five matches against NCAA member teams, Bower accounted for a 20.95 frame average. NEC members Sacred Heart, LIU Brooklyn and Saint Francis U also contested the team event. Finishing fourth in the standings, which were determined by pinfall, Sacred Heart joined Kutztown in earning a ticket to the USBC National Championships. Finishing in fifth and sixth, respectively, and separated by only one pin, LIU and SFU came up just short of qualifying. Still, Saint Francis managed a 3-2 win-loss record in matches against NCAA teams at the event. Red Flash freshman Sarah Ross spearheaded the effort, producing a team-best 19.69 frame average and earning her second straight NEC Rookie of the Week award.
