Who is going to work their college colors on Sept 1st? I typically wear SHSU gear when I'm not at work and have even worn SHSU gear (when I could), at work as well. Nothing wrong with another excuse, though do I really need one, to wear SHSU gear...

FRISCO, Texas - What do millions of college sports fans and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney have in common? They will all be celebrating College Colors Day on September 1.

The second annual College Colors Day, a day when every college fan is encouraged to wear his or her favorite college apparel, will be capped off by a Kenny Chesney concert performance at the Saavis Center in St. Louis (Mo.), saluting College Colors Day titled The Road & The Radio Tour Salutes College Colors Day and a gridiron match-up, televised on ESPN, between Fresno State University and the University of Nevada in the inaugural College Colors Day Classic football game.

"These are two tremendous events tied to College Colors Day 2006 and we're excited to be partnered with Kenny Chesney, as well as Fresno State and Nevada," said Pat Battle, president and CEO for the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). "Now we just need every college fan out there to wear their college gear on September 1 to celebrate their favorite college or university."

College Colors Day, created by The Collegiate Licensing Company and its Consortium of colleges and universities, coincides with "back to campus" and the kick-off of the college football season. College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that drive collegiate athletics by encouraging fans, alumni and students from across the country to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day of September 1, 2006.

Throughout the month on August, life-sized Kenny Chesney signs will be displayed in college town retailers across the country to help promote College Colors Day 2006 and Chesney's new "LIVE" album, which will be in stores September 19. In all, hundreds of collegiate retailers are expected to promote the holiday with in-store displays and promotions. In addition, online retailers such as CBSSportsline.com, CSTV.com, FootballFanatics.com, Rivals.com and ESPNShop.com will run special college retail promotions on their web sites.
