On the ArgusLeader (Sioux Falls paper) live coverage of signing day this morning, Mick Garry, the USD beat writer said that the Coyotes were expecting around 30 signees today. That is an insane number of incoming freshman.

SDSU is expecting around 18.

YSU signed 1 player from the Youngstown area and he's a kicker. They simply have to do a better job of recruiting talent in a 60 mile radius because its plentiful. That area lives and breathes football. Thought they'd get a few more.

Not really any single source. We've got fans on our forums that keep eyes out on all the various recruiting sites. Unfortunately (as many of us are aware), FCS info is kinda sparse on the "big-time" recruiting sites. A good amount of our players come from the "I-55 Corridor" from Milwaukee/Chicago down to St. Louis (including areas like Peoria and Springfield)...you can see a map of where this year's recruits come from here (http://goo.gl/maps/TXS7c). So we've got people that monitor the media in those areas and keep an eye on things, but outside of that, there's not much you can do until the school name starts popping up on local media websites.

In terms of ratings/stars, probably the least rated class in the last 4-5 years for MSU, but it was a small class to begin with since we only lost 12 players. Got some GREAT local talent that went under the radar, kept our Memphis pipeline kickin, and got 3 JUCO players in the 3 positions we needed it the most.

Missouri State’s high school commitments are:

Press release from NDSU: North Dakota State Football Announces Class of 2013 (https://admin.xosn.com/pdf8/1330985.pdf?SPSID=11850&SPID=695&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=2400&)

21 scholarship players and 8 recruited walk-ons. The Bison really re-loaded on the defensive side. The guys I'm most excited about are RB Chase Morlock, S Chris Board, DT Nick Jacobsen, and OLB Pierre Gee-Tucker.

^This. Watching his videos could almost be considered football porn because he seems to be just that good at running back. I'm really excited to see him tear up defenses in the MVFC.

YSU signed 1 player from the Youngstown area and he's a kicker. They simply have to do a better job of recruiting talent in a 60 mile radius because its plentiful. That area lives and breathes football. Thought they'd get a few more.

There's not much good D1 tallent left over after the BCS schools get their cut. Then the medium D1 tallent goes to the MAC down. It was a bad year for HS recruits in the area. Oh by the way... there's more than one kid within a 60 mile radius of the YSU campus on the recruiting list..

Cool You tube video of all YSU recruits below.

It appears as though Indiana State got 3 Three Star recruits according to Rivals. Now, two are officially signed confirmed by the Sycamore AD. However, the third, Koa Kaleopaa (http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Koa-Kaleopaa-137105;_ylt=AgpY.V94w75fT42RULJo3QdDPZB4), is MIA according to their press release. Maybe he'll be a late addition, however, it wouldn't surprise me if he went elsewhere. He had offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, California, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming. Rivals still shows he is committed to Indiana State.

The two other are Chris Davis (http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Chris-Davis-118974;_ylt=Am1afbaTo5Jqh1mmqb9zCWdDPZB4) and Jameer Thurman (http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Jameer-Thurman-136899;_ylt=AsmUU1JLFMG0e7J4.IelF8hDPZB4). Davis had offers from Akron, Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois, and Minnesota. Thurman had no FBS offers but did receive offers from Illinois State, Western Illinois, and North Dakota.

I don't mean to give the impression that Rivals Stars are everything. However, if Indiana State snag these guys with all those FBS offers, that is impressive. Thurman could be overhyped considering the lack of offers relative to his rivals rating.

Yah, he is huge.

Apparently Koa Kaleopaa did sign with Indiana State. Found confirmation HERE (http://midvalleysports.com/?p=31269)

Borens is a beast. Benching over 400 already......AT 6'8".....UMMMMMMMM WOW! This new staff is the real deal. ISU has never signed a single 3 star out of high school. Even more impressive is they did it starting in December. We are thrilled with our new staff. Sanford is also from every interaction I've had with him a first class guy. Very engaging.

BTW-Borens was born in wisconsin and lived their till HS.

Borens wasn't really recruited by UNI either...had some interest but the fact is I live in Cedar Falls, and a regular reader of the Iowa rivals site for high school and the kid got next to zero pub.

I understand the point you were trying to make. Wisconsin has produced great Olineman. But to make this recruit seem more valuable because he moved from Wisconsin to Iowa is just hilarious. A football players success is much more complicated than mere Geographic location.

SIU is planning on signing a transfer OLB and probably WR at end of Spring. CB is set with Terrell Wilson (6'1" 200) returning as starter and 6' 195 Trey Colbert as back-up plus transfers Keith Suggs (5'10" 185 Toledo), Chris Davis (5'11" 190 California JUCO) and Brandon Willingham (5'10" 175, 4.45 forty from Coffeyville CC). With signing of four star Ken Malcome (5'11" 234) and Tay Willis (5'8" 180, 4.26 forty, Highland CC) and return of 6' 230 pound Mik'ail McCall, the RB position seems set.

As an outside observer I think this has been as issue for SIU. Way too many transfers since Dale took over.

His quick fixes are not working and sorry to say there is no 4.26 guy joining your team. If he actually was a 4.26 guy which they are very few in the world he wouldn't be going to SIU..

Good luck at finishing middle of the pack again this year. You guys miss Kill bigtime!!!

Ok---just reporting what Rivals says about Willis. I'd say 4.4 is not out of the realm of possibilities. Indeed, SIU does have a high school DB recruit this season who ran an electronically timed 4.37 (Marcus Miller)--twice at our summer camp> The SIU coaches refused to believe their eyes--so they ran him again and got the same time. Of course you can be very fast and not be anywhere near a BCS level ball player in football skills. As to "too many transfers"--different strokes for different folks I guess. Needless to say we are not going to refuse the services of Ken Malcome just cause some rival fan says the kid is no good.

Here's a video of Tay Willis at East Coweta High in Georgia three years ago. 4.26--dunno but he is fast. Also although only 5'8" 175 he benched 335 pounds for SIU coaches. Think Larry Warner from 2009 SIU team.

Whoops sorry NDSU fans SIU just got another BCS transfer RB; Malcolm Agnew of Oregon State will be a junior--had 692 yds (4.6 ypc) six TDs in two injury plagued years--had 223 yards 3 TDs in one game--was in 13 OSU games in 2012. 5'9" 204 pounds 4.49 forty average electronic time (ran a low of 4.4). Played for Des Met Jesuit in St. Louis--three star Rivals (5.6). Brother Ray plays for SIU already.

Yeah, but most of their O-Lineman products are limited in their availability since they have to stay home & cook for the children while their men go to union lodge meetings....
