First line of defense

Bearkat coach excited to see replacements step up in key position

The interior defensive lineman is one of the most underappreciated player in football.

These guys usually don’t have eye-popping statistics and rarely are the talk around the office water cooler. Most boys don’t grow up playing in the back yard, dreaming of stuffing a running back on fourth and goal.

But those guys who do all the dirty work on the front line are very important to the success of any defense. They are responsible for disrupting a play, whether it is a pass or run, and opening things up for the linebackers and secondary.

Interior defensive linemen are, to say the least, the first line of defense.

At 6-4 315, Mikolajchak could definitely be a force in the middle. He was a very good DT in high school.
