The NBA has made the selling of the Sacramento Kings franchise to a group led by Chris Hansen near-official today, ending a saga of how the Maloofs handled their franchise. The only thing left for the sale to become final is the approval of other NBA owners.

Many Seattle fans have mixed emotions- they love having a team back, but they also know how King's fans feel about losing their team. It was quite the screw job when the Sonics moved to OK City. They should have kept the Hornets there but it wouldn't have been politically correct to do so.

I'm wondering what other teams might move. I read that Golden State will be moving back across the Bay to San Fransisco.

This will be the fifth home for the Kings. They previously played in Rochester and Cincinnati as the Royals and then became the Kings when they moved to Kansas City. It will be six if you count the split home schedule they played in Omaha 1972-1975 and were officially the Kansas city-Omaha Kings.

Kevin Johnson, former NBA All-Star and current mayor of Sacramento, has told Seattle that his city is fighting back and says "Don't celebrate too early."

Sacramento can't stop it. It's a shame to see Sacramento lose the team, but I am excited for the return of the Sonics. I miss the glory days of Payton and Kemp.
