Oklahoma Panhandle State WHAT!!! Thats it! xsplatx I am rooting for Appalachian State now!!!

Oklahoma Panhandle Football claims to be d2 but they really aren't, they play a few NAIA Schools and a few at best I can call Local Colleges that found uniforms? Check out Cole College Football Website http://www.biokats.com/ccjaguars/football.html

Really Montana?? This has to be a Ransom game...Can only imagine the pictures someone at Okla Panny must have. xasswhipx

Somebody please explain this game to me And keep your UNH NAIA Stadium jokes to yourself!! xlolx

We played them twice. We ended our winless streak down there after changing coaches- the next year beat them so badly in Kato that the game went to running time.

OH! I see.. Minnesota State played them. I loved the Show Coach!

So I have a slogan for them... "The Special OPS of Goodwell Oklahoma" Get it ? OPS Oklahoma Panhandle State? I can just hear Brent Musburger now! "You are looking live at Grizzly Stadium where the Grizzlies of Montana are set to take on the perennial walk on and parents pay for the uni-forms...... The Special OPS from Goodwell Oklahoma" There will be a slight delay since the parents have yet to drop off enough players to start the game. Take it way back to the studio!

This is the OPSU stadium.

If they aren't the worst team in D-II they are close. They played one or two D-II teams last year, a bunch of NAIA teams and another school that is basically a High School. Montana could beat then by 100 if they want- in the 1st half.

I am also intrigued by these meat labs.

From their website "Students are provided educational opportunity to learn all aspects of the meat processing industry while working in the lab. It also serves the community by sponsoring interscholastic meat evaluation contests each year and also provides workouts for local meat judging teams." WTF are "interscholastic meat evaluation contests" and where do I sign up?

I heard through the grapevine they contacted a few FCS schools, but none wanted to come out for just the trip; they all wanted home and homes. Guess our AD thought this was a better alternative. :pumpuke:

That won't happen anymore. With 16 teams in the NSIC there are no more nonconference football games. I don't like it but that's the way it is.

Good point, but what is Montana paying for a game? I am guessing any one of the NSIC teams could use a $100,000 (or whatever) shot in the arm. Something they probably wouldn't make just paying each other.

Why not play Carroll? Well they average 6K for home games, have corporate sponsers that like those home games along with the fans, and also have the ability to actually pay a D2 team to come in and play at their house. Other than the flight it's probably easier to get UNH here than Carroll .

You've said you wanted to have some serious discussion and yet you keep trying to troll for something that no one is taking so again good luck with it.

Any D2 game does absolutely nothing for our schedule so it doesn't matter how good or how crappy they are.

Is it. I know they played them last year. Doesn't mean you see them wanting to play Montana or that they don't ask for a decent amount to do so. It's been published several times that the Athletic Dept. at both schools has no real desire to play each other.

I had this back & forth with JALMOND a couple years back on CS and if you feel like recounting it then you can find it on Champsub somewhere.

The point stands until the two schools decide they do want to schedule each other. Carroll doesn't have a need or want to play MSU or UM from what I've seen. They don't view PSU in the same way.

But if Carroll is willing to play PSU, why not play UM or MSU?
Travel costs would be much less and the payout would probably be more, plus Carroll would most likely sell their entire allotment of visitor tickets.
and it would be a better match up then panhandle state @ UM!!!

I will venture a guess that panhandle state has fantastic food at their tailgates!!!

But as mentioned in this very thread, if all the FCS teams told Montana that they wanted a return home game to go out there I can see why they just grab anyone they can.

Is Idaho busy? You could talk them into it, no one else will play them and they need a schedule.

As I said I don't remember all the details but there was a similar thread on it over on Champsub when PSU scheduled them and there was talk that Montana & MSU were afraid to schedule them so I posted the article from the IR that said this was more from Carroll's side not UM or MSU's side. I don't know the reason. I can't remember The Saints scheduling any FCS teams prior to the PSU game in the last 25-30 yrs. They just don't schedule FCS teams in general.

I'd love to have UNH on the schedule as well and it would be good to see but the H&H with E. Coast teams is probably done for a while with the Hofstra & Maine games with that whole fiasco.

Now that the WAC is dead and that conference rule that wouldn't allow ID to travel to Missoula that would definitely have been a good way to go had that foresight been there.

You are right I do not remember Carroll scheduling Div 1's very often. The Carroll\PSU game was an anomolly on Carroll's schedule.
I may be wrong on this, but I think the fan interest in a Carroll\UM game would be high.
Many of the fans may know each other and many would be fans of both teams.
