Is this correct?
Mercer: Pioneer Conference. Playoff eligible
Stetson: Pioneer Conference. Playoff eligible
Incarnate Word: Southland Conference. First year of DI transition. Not playoff eligible.
UNC-Charlotte: FBS transitional. Not playoff eligible.
ODU: FBS transitional. Not playoff eligible.
Georgia State: FBS transitional. Not playoff eligible.
Future teams:
Kennesaw State: Unknown conference 2014. I'm guessing Big South but I have no real info on that.
Houston Baptist: Southland Conference 2014
I don't know when Kennesaw State and Houston would be playoff eligible. First year?

ODU's official designation this season is FCS Independent, I believe that will be Georgia State's status as well, but I'm not sure about charlotte.

Are they playing in 2013? Their web site seems to suggest this.

WOW. If this is true and not just a typo, this is news to me. All I've heard up to this point is 2014.

HBU is starting this year, not in conference until 2014.
ICWU and ACU both beginning transition this year.

HBU starts football in 2013, playing a limited schedule. They will be part of the SLC in 2014.

Thanks for the clarification, Sammy94.
UIW has a nice, detailed timeline available.

And things are looking questionable at Kennesaw State, unfortunately.

We will be consider an FCS Independent and won't be eligible for the postseason.

In 2014, there will also be a 4-team playoff in the FBS. I'm assuming Charlotte would be eligible.

2015 is our FBS transitional year, won't be eligible for postseason play until 2016.
It's a weird situation but ODU will FBS in 2014 and playing @ Charlotte. Have any other FCS teams hosted a FBS team?

Off the top of my head, Montana hosted Idaho a few times. They made Idaho regret every trip.

Yes, quite a few of them, although it is much less frequent now.

I'm curious. What is the existing SLC team's opinion of them basically going smaller? It would seem an advantage to the larger schools.

I would love to see SFA, Sam, Lamar, McNeese, UCA, and NW State (maybe SELA too) grab some of the other conference outliers and make a new conference..but that won't happen
