With one of our UND posters posting about their pending class, I was wondering if it would be possible to hear from other posters about their commits (if this sort of thing would be a violation somewhere, this can be deleted)

Huesman's first 3 classes at Chattanooga were at or near the top of the Southern conference. His 4th class was underwhelming and the first half of this year's class is pretty pedestrian as well. He needs a big year and should be able to get the ball rolling again.

There are a few guys in Bisonville who do an excellent job of tracking interest and commitments for NDSU: NDSU 2013 Recruiting Summary (http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthread.php?26850-2013-Recruiting-Summary)
So far NDSU has 15 known verbal commitments and 3 PWO commitments. There is a limited number of scholarships available this year due to a small senior class so I wouldn't expect that number to get too much larger over the next 3 weeks.

Maybe we should merge the UND recruiting thread into this one - makes more sense to have one thread total dedicated to recruiting instead of individual teams having one. Thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about that too much... Huesman is at the point of recruiting for need for the most part and one or two impact players can make what you describe as a pedestrian class great- like keeping his son at home for instance.

His son's class was the last great class. Ranked number 1 in the SOCON by southernpigskin(fwiw) but last year's class just wasn't at the same talent level. It had a few gems but I wouldn't be surprised if it only produces 4 or 5 starters. This class has 8 of 16 committed so far, I would only say a few are impact and we may not hold on to some of those. The program has lost some steam on the recruiting trail because it has yet to turn the corner on the field. Luckily, Huesman has very good talent this year, but it won't be as good next year after we lose this class IMO. He needs to win big this year for more than 1 reason.

Depends on who it is and where they're from. Publicly committed kids who are pretty well-known from the summer camps, or come from higher profile schools, aren't really an issue. Not saying they aren't fallback targets for FBS schools, but it doesn't really matter whether they're public commitments or not, they're already on the radar. The ones you have to worry about are the lower profile kids who aren't summer showcase warriors and/or come from programs that generally don't produce a lot of D-I signees.
Or in the case of Robert Alford, who will be playing in the Senior Bowl next week, he was a skinny WR in high school who rarely played defense. He was in our backyard at Hammond High School and came to our summer camp, where he ran 4.3, had a 40-inch vertical and locked up every receiver in camp. Our staff at the time, were holding their breath all season that Hammond High wouldn't play him on defense. He was a playmaker on offense and kick return game, but didn't draw much more than passing interest from FBS schools ... we were his only offer. That spring, in track, he ran 49 seconds in the 400 meters and long jumped nearly 24 feet ... now, five years later, it looks like he may go in the top 3 rounds of the NFL draft.
