Lovie Smith is out as Bears coach. I thought that move was too soon.

A bunch of others are out, too. I wonder where some of these guys will end up. NFL assistants, FBS, FCS?

Lovie had to go.

7 - 3 start in 2011. Finished 8 - 8 and no playoffs
7 - 1 start in 2012. Finished 10 - 6 and no playoffs.

His inability to make adjustments in and between games was his biggest limiting factor. He ran his system and did not deviate. It worked great against poor teams and rookie quarterbacks. It inflated his W/L record. But whenever they played a team with a good, veteran QB they didn't stand a chance. Plus, 1 - 8 against Packers in Jay Cutler era is not OK.

Cutler gets a lot of crap. He doesn't have the best "football smarts" in the game, but he's got some great talent and great instincts. If he had a good coordinator that could reel him in a little bit and set him up for success, you could see great things out of him on a consistent basis.

Say what you will, but he's the best god**mn QB the Bears have had since Sid Luckman... Yes, Sid Luckman.

Curious to see what happens with Rivera. I have a feeling that the Panthers will hire a GM before they make a decision. My gut (which has increasingly gotten bigger into my early 30's) tells me Rivera gets one more year. GM's generally only get one firing and then one subsequent hiring.

Any team with Bob Babich on the staff will invariably hit a low point in their history. :D

At least that's the case with his last 2 jobs.

Ummm...I just thought it was funny that you said "area" instead of "era."

He is always on every list but never gets more than a nibble. Pretty smart guy.

He's been an assistant on 8 NFL teams. QB/OC for the Raiders when Gannon had his best run. A Couple Grey Cups with Montreal. He would be a good NFL coach, you would think.

Browns fire coach Pat Shurmur
As if it matters. The Browns have been going through coaches at the rate of about one every 2 years ever since coming back, and each one has been worse than the last. Hopefully the change in ownership signals something good, but I won't hold my breath.
