Jacksonville State has hired South Alabama defensive coordinator Bill Clark as football coach.

Gamecocks athletic director Warren Koegel announced the hiring Tuesday of Clark, a 1990 Jacksonville State graduate who will be introduced at a Wednesday news conference.

Clark spent the past five seasons as South Alabama's defensive coordinator after a successful run as head coach at Prattville High School. The Jaguars ranked second in the Sun Belt Conference in total defense in 2012, the team's first full season competing in the league.

Sounds like a good hire, hope he works out. I like he is a JSU grad and from the area, so he would be less likely to bolt if a bigger school comes calling.

Well dgtw, as I said before in an earlier post before the coaching change it should be EIU-EKU-JSU to battle it out next year, this may be the guy who can get it turned around really quickly; especially with the players that are coming back, good luck to the Gamecocks, looking forward to your return visit to Martin; won't be near as exciting as this year, especially for the Hawks

New era begins at Jacksonville State. Nothing average about this hire. Look for some real OVC damage and the league's best defense. Gamecock fans are primed for a run.
