Congrats to John and to coach Talley. Another great award for another fantastic player leaving his mark on the history of the program. I'm almost afraid to see what our rushing game will look like next year when we bring back two 1000 yd rushers and add in Abdur-Rahman who was supposed to be the team's #1 back this year. Great time for Nova football despite all the conference nonsense going around.

That only makes his stats more impressive. The award says nothing about anything off field. It says "most outstanding freshman player." And if Price is anything, he's an outstanding player.

Price set the all-time freshman receiving record... after missing two games. IMO he should have won. Him finishing third is a crime.

This list is obviously garbage!!! They didn't even include a single from the Buffalo's!!!! They are the greatest team ever so it should be a given that they have somebody on every single list!! Hell most of their guys that redshirted this year should have made this garbage list!!!!
Congrats to Roberston! Heck of a job helping turn that program around! Sean Price did have a deserving campaign as well!

I wouldn't say ouch. Most people would love to have 2 players finish that high. If you saw our defense this year, it is amazing Jeremy finished that high. If Price wouldn't have been suspended, he probably would have won. Anyway, for a supposed down season, I feel good about where these guys placed.

Difficult for anyone other than a QB to win these types of awards. Robertson had a great year as did Price. We'll see who has the better career going forward.

I think App might have a good beef with Price. I also think UNI has a good beef with Kollmorgen. Kollmorgen had better overall statistics. Led the nation for Fr. QB in yards and efficiency. He was better than Robertson in almost all stats. I really think it came down to Robertson being on the better team.
Congrats to Robertson, but I think Kollmorgen had the better season.

Not sure, haven't heard anything yet. I'd love to keep him, he's probably one of the best back ups in FCS. Honestly the way Robertson runs you need a decent back up. He needs to get a little smarter about sliding and getting out of bounds instead of taking hard hits. He already dealt with a concussion after the JMU game this year. but he will learn and get better. Andy Talley mentioned he wanted to explore a little bit of a down field passing game. Possibly put Polony in a few drives a game just to keep defenses on their toes.

I didn't realize Robertson rushed for 1000 yards as well. Maybe more deserving than I originally thought. Congratulations!

Yep, he was only 35 passing yards away from a 2000/1000 season. I honestly knew nothing about Kollmorgen until I looked him up just now. He did have some great numbers too wow. Aren't we lucky to have such talented QBs with 3 years of eligibility left?

Still just hard to believe it's so difficult for a WR to win an award named after a WR. smh

It's not just the Rice that it's hard to win as a receiver, it's every offensive award. 3 receivers have won the Heisman, 1 has won the Payton, 0 have won NFL MVP.

Mr. Writer ended a sentence with a preposition mid typo joke!
As far as the thread, the award is a sham. When Price wins the WP twice and gets drafted first round, it might make up for this travesty.

WR's don't win the Payton. It's not going to happen even once. I wish it would, but QB's and RB's win the Payton.
Now, first round of the NFL draft is a possibility. But, he has to progress in his route-running and strength. Good thing he's got 3 more years. Yeah, that's right SoCon fans... I said 3 more years.

I still don't understand how we ever landed this kid. He's overqualified for most BCS teams. Did VT not recruit him?

He's got the height, but I think he came up last year at 190 lbs - he's added like 20 lbs. He also was BQ-like in that he only played a year or two of high school football.

Nice Nova flavor to the FCS awards ceremony.
Andy Talley ( former Robinson award winner) and runner up this year presented award to Coach Bohl and Brian Finneran ( only WR to win Payton award in 1997) presented the Payton award to Taylor Heinecke and of course, congrats to Jerry Rice Award winner John Robertson.
