UALBANY FOOTBALL FINISHES PRESEASON'S SECOND WEEK WITH SATURDAY SCRIMMAGE
Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany football team finished up its second week of preseason practice with a morning scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 19 on the Western Avenue practice fields. Head coach Bob Ford is preparing a squad that was picked with Central Connecticut State as the favorites to win this year's Northeast Conference championship.
"We had enough positive things happen today to make it a great session," explained Ford, who ran an 85-play scrimmage on Field No. 3. "In that second week your legs get heavy but our players still stayed focused. The offensive line is solidifying and the defense is running to the ball extremely well. We did a better job punting and I was impressed with the first unit on kickoff returns."
The Great Danes, who have 17 starters returning from a team that won five of its last six games one year ago, are off on Sunday before working out in the afternoon on Monday, Aug. 21. UAlbany begins its season against Patriot League member Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday, Sept. 2.
