What is your avg. attendance compared to your enrollment? This is our 2005 data

Attendance 11,389
Enrollment 9,110

Our attendance is 125% of our enrollment.

I'm sure the private schools will have some high percentage.

For the NDSU Bison in 2005:

Attendance: 14,160
2005 Enrollment: 12,099

Attendance is 117% of enrollment.

Average student attendance is 2,500+.

I don't think this is an accurate measurement...

Lafayette's enrollment is 2300, and our average attendance in Lehigh years is 8000+, ususally 5000 in non-Lehigh.

Similiarly, Lehigh is 3x their enrollment.

That new stadium will skyrocket your attendance, I guarantee it.

I would bet that a lot of reasons some students don't go to the games is that Toomey is a real down-in-the-dumps old stadium. I bet a lot of the fans will come out for a long time just for the new stadium alone.

We usually average 12 to 13K for home games so we are at around 500%. This year should be interesting though since our first two games will be prior to the start of classes

Just another way of looking at participation. It does amaze me the attendance some of the smaller enrollment school.

Over the past 10 years Lehigh has averaged between 9,000-12,000 with an enrollment growing from 4,000 to 4,700. With the new buzz this year and a very good home schedule we could have an all-time attendance for a 'non-Lafayette' year. 1985 and 1999 were the best two years in the last 20, with averages of 12,260 and 12,255.

Actually, OL FU, I believe most students will be back on campus by Sept. 8th (the Frosh will have been there a week by then). That gives us most of the students without anything to do. Always bodes well.

Do any schools have this data? or give it out if they do?

I have never seen any student attendance data from JSU.

Stawberry Stadium is only about 1/2 the size of our enrollment so until we enlarge it, we'll never go over 100% in that statistic.

Georgia Southern does. I believe we had an avg attendance of 16,000+ last season but at McNeese we had nearly 13,000 students at the game.

I hope things change significantly starting next year. For the first time, we'll have a class of freshman go on a tour, see the football stadium and not say "That's your football stadium?! My high school field is nicer than that!" And the games start to count again next year. No more exhibitions. With those 2 factors, I hope we'll double our attendance over what we've gotten during this transition. I drove by the stadium saturday when I was in town - it is much more impressive in real life than on the webcam. I think for once we are going to be pleasantly surprised with the outcome - it is going to be a great place to watch a game.

ucdtim17
August 21st, 2006, 04:15 PM
Even if we double, we'll still be under 50% - just shows there's a ton of potential there for much bigger crowds if we have the facility and the team to demand it

poly51

Cal Poly has an enrollment of 18000 plus and a stadium the seats 8500 and they don't fill up everytime. The record crowd is under 9000 set year before last. Last year only 1 side of the stadium was availible. The stadium expansion to 10000 plus this year should help. Bring on the Griz and they will fill it.

In a normal year at McNeese we average somewhere between 14,000 to 16,000 attendance for home games (Not counting 2004 or 2005). Our enrollment ranges around 8500 to 8900 (maybe less the next couple of years since hurricane Rita caused a severe lack of housing here in Lake Charles).

UC Davis also keeps track of student attendence through the number of students swiping into our Aggie Pack student section. 1/3 capacity of every home Athletic event is reserved for our students. Last year we overfilled our capacity with 3,000 plus students attending the Cal Poly game. Well over 8,000 students attend at least one UC Davis athletic event over the school year.

The problem with this thread is supply and demand. Our percentage is very low simply because our Stadium cannot hold many people. The new stadium will help, but once again in its current phase the best we can ask for in terms of percentage is around 33%.

But I agree more important than the whole stadium average is the student average.

Student undergraduate enrollment- (23,400)
New Stadium Student section- (around 5,000ish)
Toomey student section- (3,000ish)

I fully expet all games to be sell outs for students when that new Stadium gets built/D1 games count. Hopefully a camping out atmosphere will be created as students have to line up early to get to games. There is a lot of potential here at Davis.

Not too bad for a 6-5 team that has to deal with UTK about an hour to the North. If Rodney continues to right the ship this should improve.

the new stadium will increase attendance not only for the students but for our alums and other fans in the area. The move to D-1 has already increased our image and will bring in more money from paying fans. Students come for free which is also sad to see the low attendance.
Also success will bring more fans, as californians we love winners and ignore losers....which is sad because you should support your team no matter what!.... GO UCD

Unfortunately, the dorms don't open up for returning students until the day after the West Georgia game. That means zero students for JSU and only the Freshmen for UWG.

LOL, we can't get the percentages everyone else is getting unless we build a 50,000 seat stadium and fill it (b/c of our high enrollment). it's not as bad as it looks. filling in those extra 2000 seats should be the first priority...:twocents:

Fellow Aggies, when UCD was D2, and we played at Toomey, we still had crowds of over 10,000 at times when we were in the playoffs (student population at the time was around 20,000). Now, with the increase in students (30, 000+), the move to D1, and playoff elgible, I see UCD regularly at 11-13 per game. When we are in the playoffs, we'll see 20,000plus who will want to attend some games. Fans were turned away during the D2 playoff years when the Toom could barely hold over 10,000 fans.
