Three first team selections for Georgetown LB Robert McCabe, which is just about as consensus as the subdivision goes. Congratulations to Georgetown's 21st All-American in FB--first time GU has posted back to back A-A selections since 1987-88.

And remember this linebacker name for 2013: Dustin Wharton.

Definitely hope so.

But I believe that Reid has a medical fifth-year available to him if he wants it.

Amazing how McCabe is so recognized after playing against all those weak opponents....(;-)

Good to see the Hoyas get some props.

I could be wrong, but I think he's scheduled to graduate in June. And he's got a shot at the NFL, if he wants to go that direction.

You were doing it with really BIG mirrors against North Dakota State last weekend.

Definitely hope so.

But I believe that Reid has a medical fifth-year available to him if he wants it.

Rumors are that he is considering a move to FBS to play as well. He has 3 options, all of which are pretty good

1. Stay in this draft class and likely be taken late and collect a check on Sundays.

2. Stay at Princeton and go to grad school while putting up a dominant final season.

3. Go FBS and play. Reason that is a good option is that FBS schools are courting him, which shows the level of play he has put up the last two years.

Who would you put off your defense? Nobody has killer stats that make them a lock to get honored. Not arguing saying you should not but you seem like you expect you should have one for sure and I don't see anyone on your defense who put up individual numbers that would make them a lock for it.

Yes I have seen him doing that. He wasn't even first-team all-SoCon so not sure how you could argue him. Niam has been hurt a lot and while he is a good player you know how fathers are. They all think their son is a big time player.

Morehead State QB Zach Lewis has the same problem with his dad. His dad thinks he is a NFL guy because Phil Simms told him he would play in the pros. I will guarantee the NFL is no shot for him. NFL teams won't give a Pioneer League guy who is 5'11 or 6'0 and can't make 1st or 2nd team All-PFL a shot in the NFL. He's a good college player though and should get a shot in the CFL or AFL.

I'll believe #3 when I see it. There is a precedent or two for an Ivy guy to graduate with one more year of elibility, and then play at another school as a grad student. But that's been limited to stuff like soccer and lacrosse. If it's happened in football, I'm not aware of it.

There have been instances of guys playing at Ivy and then transferring to another school and finishing their football careers there. But those have all been pre-graduation transfers.

Wofford's defense is like the Bison's....no superstars but just a bunch of guys that play very well together.

Besides the Bison defense, Wofford's is the best I have seen this year.

Same here.

Obviously, with a year of eligibility left, it's possible. But it would be really atypical.

Nothin' like it! I got my son one for Christmas a few years ago for his dorm room. I told him he now always 'had a leg up'. He just rolled his eyes.

AP has done a well-researched, thoughtful job with their selections at all positions and for all three teams. ...unbelievably, two pages of posts and no substantive criticism or rants of note by any AGS posters yet! xthumbsupx

How about the DT from SHSU getting third team All-America but not getting even honorable mention All-SLC. That one baffled me. Anyone else notice that?

There are a number of weird picks (like the SHSU one that was mentioned). The AP team is suspect because it is basically one person putting it together and it is done by someone who doesn't actually go out and cover games in person. His knowledge of FCS is basically from watching stuff on TV, if even that. I don't know how that is well-researched and thoughtful.

It should NEVER be about numbers. If you choose by numbers, you are missing the boat. You should go by what you see with your two eyes. Numbers only back up that.

Alvin Scioneaux would be one on my radar from Wofford as a possible All-American. He had a fine year. Only 70 tackles, but 14 TFLs for 64 yards in losses and 7 sacks. He also had a pair of interceptions, 8 QB Hurries, 2 forced fumbles and a pair of pass breakups.

I agree to a certain extend. However, for a position like linebacker, tackles and especially tackles for a loss are a pretty good measure of the athletes talent. For d-backs, not so much. I,ve seen cornerbacks credited with double figures in tackle, but it was because they were getting beat all day and only made the tackle after the catch. A lot of good running backs don't get credit for doing the little things like pass blocking and freeing themselves up for short yardage outlet passes. Re: the Wofford players, I only saw them a couple times this year, but against a very good UNH receiving corp, their corners shut down the wide receivers with geat open field tackles, even on flanker screens with one or two blockers out in front of the play!

I agree but with many picking teams they go by numbers instead of what they see on the field so if I'm a fan of a school I would only expect 100% that a player would be honored if he has the numbers to back it up.
