Man, what a horrible way to end your career. I really was feeling for the guy. Four years and history almost repeating itself. I normally cheer for Navy, as my father was Navy in WWII, but i really wanted Army to make some magic at the end of the game. These guys are to be saluted, and what a classy way to end the game with each team standing for the other's song.

Steelman now gets to move on to infinitely more serious business. He'll probably take a little grief about his fumble for a while, but if he learns his business (hey LT that NCO over there is talking to you) nobody will remember some football game. Redemption won't be that hard to come by for this kid, his best days are still ahead of him.

Army-Navy. What college football should be about. I have great respect for these guys.

Agreed, I felt bad for him. It has been too long since Army won.

Just like Somalia, Fallujah and many other examples where the Marine Corps gives the Army a chance to take care of business and they Fruck it up.

The oohrahs had a game yesterday? Oh, that's right their parent organization let them come along for the ride (as usual) and they are now bigging up their role (also as usual). Of course if Army and the leathernecks had a regular game (that is if you could bring the jarheads up to the Army's level of competition), the Army would generally win but the Marines would convince journalists to report that they had won.

Up to the Army's level? Thats a good one.

Yes-the level of a major strategic force, a war-winning asset not some other force's amphibious arm. Despite what they taught you at the Parris Island school of mind*uckery (or the other place-whatever) when you are in an existential "lose your nation" type conflict it is the Army-not some trivial redundancy-that does the fighting. All of this could have been avoided if you had kept your cakehole shut, but you mouthed off and have been corrected. You aren't the first jarhead I have bad to set to rights-and it always amuses me to listen to you bluster when confronted by the facts.

Army is generally less disciplined and trained to a lower standard. So keep with your hateful rhetoric because some Marine stole your high school sweetheart while you were at Band Camp. And yes, Marines, not Jarheads.

Sweeping statements that have nothing to do with reality. You were the one who started with the trash talk Smashy-I give as good as I get.

Oh-and if we are "trained to a lower standard", why do so many of you oohrahs come to Army schools?

All the services share schools. I went to my MOS school at an Air Force base. I was referring to intial training and School of Infantry for the Marines vs. Army Basic. To be honest, the Army's hands were tied in Mogadishu with horse**** ROE and an idiot General. We all have our place and my initial statement was meant tongue in cheek. To call the Marines an amohibious arm of the Navy is pretty narrow. The necessity of an amphibious force in today's military is unnecessary as there are very few fronts where it is needed with the technology we have today. There will not be another Normandy or island hopping campaign anytime soon.

Since you have walked back your initial statement i will let it go. Far too often I have heard Marines take shots at the Army-I have no patience for it.

And Army takes shots at Marines. Same as football fans. Such is life.

Smash-the Army generally ignores the Corps (whether you believe that or not, what you guys do is largely irrelevant to us except to the extent that we support your operations in theater or are supported by you). But after the first seven or eight hundred times I heard some fresh from PI E-1 talk trash about the Army I lost my sense of humor about it. Whatever line they feed you guys down there about the military history of he United States is greatly distorted. I'll note that it was you who took the first opportunity to try to denigrate us here. Oh, and trash talk about football is of an entirely different order of magnitude than running down centuries of service and sacrifice.

Oh I don't disagree with that- I was wondering about the C in C's decision to attend, or not protest him performing.

I'm ambivalent about it to be honest. PSY is a punk, but until he appears at the White House I am reserving judgment. The President may take him to task or he may apologize. We'll see.

Sorry to see that a thread meant to salute a warrior who battle valiantly, and yet lost, turned into a pissing match over which branch of service has a shorter or longer one. I understand the 'competitive nature' of such things (Lehigh and Lafayette constantly hurl insults at each other, even in tiddly winks), but hope there is 'neath the surface mutual respect that each has served our country and that we're in this together.

ngineer-I have had this conversation literally hundreds of times. There was an irrelevant and gratuitous insult directed against the honor and integrity of the United States Army by a Marine i see no reason to let it stand unchallenged. Because I have seen this behavior occur so often I can only assume it is taught either as a formal part of their training or as an aspect of their service culture. Well, it is one thing to believe that you are the best and another thing to believe that everyone else is *****. I respect the Marine Corps for the high standard of service they provide to our country, I do not respect their all too common denigration of the service of others.

I love the Marines!! As a former (Army Ranger) we used to say let them charge the hill.... We'll use them as an improvised sand bag xhighfivex

Do we really need disrespectful stuff towards the military on this thread? Take that type of stuff to the smack board.
