The season opener was postponed until this weekend. Nicholls State's only win was vs. an NAIA school so this might be little more than a practice for the Beavers.

What would have happened if Nichols made the playoffs? Would they have just canceled the game?

Although, Nichols did go 1-9 so there was no chance of them making it. But still, you couldn't have known that at the beginning of the season.

I believe the agreement to reschedule was contingent on both Nicholls not making playoffs and Oregon State not making Pac-12 title game. The prospect of Nicholls having to cancel due to a playoff berth, certainly would have put them in a bind considering the impact a guarantee game has on the budget.
