Bearkats practice in full pads for first time; running backs making progress

The guys finally got to strap it up and do a little hitting Monday afternoon.
The Sam Houston State football team practiced for the first time this fall in full pads at Bowers Stadium, and coach Todd Whitten was pleased with what he saw from his players, especially since they haven’t done any major hitting since April.
“I thought we showed good effort today, but we were a little sluggish to get started,” Whitten said. “I thought we progressively got better and that’s understandable since it was the first day of pads. I think there was some added weight from the pads, and that slowed them down.
