Reggie Bush was fined $10,000 by the NFL for wearing black and gold Adidas shoes during the Saints/Titans game on Saturday night. CLICK HERE (http://www.nola.com/sportsflash/saints/index.ssf?/base/sports-10/115561555242890.xml&storylist=saints)

From what they were saying on the radio, the fine will double everytime he does that and, eventually, the TEAM could also get fined. See, the NFL has contracts with Nike and Reebok so players cannot wear apparell from other companies.

But Adidas did pay the fine for Reggie. Nice guys huh!

That's almost NASCAR ridiculous.

As of this time last year, adidas owns Reebok now - I wonder how the buyout affects sponsorships like those?

They should let you wear what's comfortable, not who gives you the most money.

Apparently not at all!!!

I don't see the problem, I mean the shoes evan matched the team's color-scheme. I don't see the harm...but of course, the NFL has to flex its muscle in almost any situation.

Gotta be reasonable about this, folks. The NFL is big business. If they don't slap this down, then what happens when a player says no to the Nike swoosh and wears a Labatt's beer logo?

Slap them down early, avoid the big problem.

The difference is that Adidas actually makes shoes. That's slightly different than someone wearing a beer logo or anything else for that matter. They can place restrictions on the size of logos or ban players from wearing logos all together unless it is the logo of the manufacturer, but the guy has a contract with a shoe company...the NFL should allow them to wear whatever shoes they want, as long as they are within the color-scheme of the team and they aren't just on-field billboards.

Reggie Bush will not be the exception, bravo NFL!

Eh, I'm not saying he SHOULD be an exception to any rule...I just think the NFL has some incredibly ridiculous rules. Let's fine players for wearing shoes from the "wrong" companies, but hell, here's a warning for doing drugs or beating your wife or resisting arrest.

adidas will just keep paying the fines and getting the great publicity from it. At some point, the NFL will run afoul with the players union on the amount of fines. Also, how ridiculous to threaten the team with fines. Much ado about nothing.
