The Nothings couldn't withstand us... Harvard got their first win on the road against North Dakota 65-52 and return to Cambridge with a 1-1 record. Next up is BYU for the home opener, but the game won't be until Friday. Ironically, both the Crimson men's and women's basketball teams are at home on Friday; both use Lavietes for our home games and the men start only 30 minutes after we end.

Stanford beat Baylor! I honestly didn't see Baylor losing a game...
That surprised me until I heard that Baylor's point guard was out. Stanford seems to be the team to end winning streaks, like they did with UConn. I also remember #1 seed Stanford losing to #16 seed Harvard years ago- only top seed to lose an opening round game.

Harvard has had been all over the awards list in each of the three weeks with awards thus far. Christine Clark has been named Ivy League Player of the Week for her performances in the three games last week (21.3 PPG in 3 games with a 2-1 record, all on the road). She joins Fagbenle (rookie week 1) and Lippert (player week 2) as the Harvard players named to the awards list this year.
I wonder when would our coach give Tummala more minutes in order to live up to her high school All-American status. She has played somewhat little so far this year.

New coach Travis Brewster is looking for his first win of his career since taking over for Gene Roebuck who retired at the end of last season after 25 years and 628 wins at UND. Last time these two teams have met was a 66-65 UND win at the North Central regional in St. Paul on March 13, 2004. Last game in Fargo was a 80-71 UND win at the NCC regional. I would think that this should draw in a big crowd. I saw a game in Fargo between the two years ago in the regional final I believe. NDSU won that one. Also saw the two battle at Concordia in the regional- UND won that tight game, but lost to SDSU in the finals.

I was watching a little of the Iowa Wisconsin game at applebee's. I am pretty sure the 4th graders that play at half time could take on either of these teams. There was a span of about 20 minutes in the restraunt when neither team made a single shot. At one point an Iowa player drove from the top of the key for a layup and shot the ball into the bottom of the backboard. Wisconsin had a stretch with 3 airballs on 3 consecutive possesions. I have no idea how anyone can watch WBB it's so bad.
Uconn and stanford were the only two teams I've ever seen that actually look like competitive fundamental basketball teams.
Perhaps I just keep seeing the worst games ever played by each individual team... perhaps not.

Women's basketball especially up here has changed since our teams were on top of the DII world. Oh to have those teams of the 90's back.
SDSU has actually improved in WBB since those D-II days (SDSU won DII title in 2003, elite 8 in 2004). Jacks are in line to make their 5th straight NCAA tourney, but will need to win the Summit to get there. So far, Jacks are only undefeated team left in the Summit, but had a heck of a scare at IPFW before pulling out a win at the horn. 2nd place IUPUI comes to Brookings this upcoming weekend.

I remember the glory days of NDSU and UND in the 80s and the 90s. Then SDSU became a power as they started their transition to D1. Heck, USD was in the D2 championship game. The NCC was better in women's basketball than in men's. Lots of titles there.

What Carolynn DeHoff has done to NDSU womens basketball is a complete and total disgrace. I feel sorry for the players. Where is the AD when it comes to this? Sleeping at the wheel or just plain crazy drunk from the Mens football glory of the last two years. DeHoff should have been gone a couple of years ago. Things will not get better for NDSU womens basketball until she and her entire staff are cleared out!

I bet Amy Ruley is eager to come out of retirement to show DeHoff how to coach. Ruley had a dynasty of a team now they are at the bottom. Why does NDSU have 2 Athletic Director's? Couldn't Gene Taylor take over all sports?

Its odd how successful the women's teams were the men's although made the playoffs never got a DII title. I know UND made the elite eight under Rich Glas but no titles.

We've had a womens ad for a long time. She was responsible for the DeHoff hire. Amy as much as she enjoyed coaching I don't think would want back after her bout with Cancer. I think she's enjoying what she's doing now but it's got to be eating her up inside to watch what the one woman wrecking crew aka Carolynn DeHoff has done to the once proud NDSU womens basketball team.

Not much NCC success on the men's basketball side when it came to national titles. South Dakota in 1958, SDSU in 1963, and a one point loss by SDSU in 1985.

My day is complete. While the men's team delivered a statement win in the Big Dance over New Mexico, the women also won their WNIT game at Hartford. 61-57 final score

Delaware 66, West Virginia 53 after trailing at half. Delle Donne "only" had 33 points!

#15/16 Delaware (6) will next play #13/18 North Carolina (3) in the NCAA 2nd Round, in Newark on Tuesday (3/26). Coming into this game, Elena Delle Donne is at 2973 career points, needing only 27 against the Tar Heels to reach 3000.

That was a great comeback. Her three at the halftime buzzer was huge. The crowd really got behind the Hens. Fun game to watch, I hope that they keep winning.

Playing clean has really helped them. Both WVU and UNC got a bit thuggy at times and the foul trouble caught up with them.

Blue Hens trail 41-27 at halftime. I'm hoping for a comeback but it doesn't look good.

I couldn't believe how well Louisville shot from 3 point land. They had that huge lead, lost it, and made two ft with two seconds to go.
I had to think of Griner's statement that the only team that could beat them was the Heat. I heard her say it live and it made me think of karma after the game. I didn't think that Louisville could do it. I also think that they will lose to Tennessee on Tuesday- they will be emotionally shot. I hope that I'm wrong- UT has won too much for me.
