Recently, an ETSU task force convened on the future of athletics. Two items of interest: the return of football and conference affiliation, which could mean a return to the Southern Conference. Nothing concrete yet, but something could be forthcoming in December.

they were one of the three talked about over the summer.
its pretty clear that mercer is being groomed for the charleston replacement and coastal/etsu are being groomed for the other two spots.

part of that is from a few soconversations that adam smith, jeff hartzell and john fierson do. adam smith talks more about the expansion and movement news since elons been so tight lipped about it even now. but he is almost certain elon is not going caa. they all talked about mercer one day specifically.
the coastal and etsu stuff came out of an article maybe in the observer, news and record or post and courier after the meetings. the consensus being that the socon commish wants 14 teams but not all the presidents on with that. there seemed to be the definite belief that the conference wants a southern and western team first for what they do.

I think WCU would support their re-entry, with or without football. However, football would be a plus.

western, elon, app and utc were not the ones that voted against the waiver in the first place
