Former Ragsdale standout enrolls at Elon
Staff and Wire ReportsStaff Reports
Former Ragsdale standout Andreas Platt has enrolled at Elon and was expected to participate in the Phoenix's first preseason football practice Monday, an athletics department spokesman said.
Platt was projected to start at strong safety for Duke before the Blue Devils announced last month that he'd been dismissed for violating team rules.
Platt, a junior, said at the time he didn't think a 2005 charge of driving while impaired or a February arrest stemming from a fight at a Chapel Hill night club were to blame for his dismissal.
A three-sport athlete at Ragsdale, Platt recorded 15 tackles last year as a redshirt freshman for the Blue Devils. He'd considered Western Carolina and junior college before transferring to Elon, where he'll be eligible to play immediately.
