SHSU players report today for upcoming football season
Last season, Todd Whitten had a chance to get his feet wet in the Southland Conference when he took over as the Sam Houston State head football coach after Ron Randleman retired.
The Bearkats never found a rhythm and limped to a 3-7 record en route to a sixth-place finish in the SLC. But heading into year two, Whitten and his staff are more familiar with the conference and their team.
Today, 90 players will make their way to Bowers Stadium for the start of the 2006 season with a chance to make a run at a league championship.
