The Kats won't even do the typical two-a-days because they don't start til September 9th. Kats are going to get down to business tommorrow with physicals and team meetings, before hitting the turf for real on Thursday.
Lots of things to be determined during preseason workouts. Wade Pate is the starting QB going in, but could that change? Questions abound at RB in terms of what kind of depth the Kats will see. Any true freshman going to see PT this year similar to some guys who stuck out last year? We'll just have to wait and see!
Best of luck to the Kats this year!

Head Coach Todd Whitten and his staff will welcome 90 players for the beginning of Sam Houston State's preseason football camp when athletes report Wednesday, August 9.
The athletes report for physicals from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and will hold their first team meeting Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Thursday morning newcomers will go through a fitness test. The team's first practice will be at 3:30 p.m.on the turf at Bowers Stadium.
The Bearkats return 48 lettermen from last year's squad including 16 starters, eight on both offense and defense. Sam Houston State will field a much more experienced squad this fall with 16 senior lettermen and 18 junior lettermen returning. Last year's 3-7 Bearkat team featured only 11 seniors.
“With so few seniors on last year’s team and more than half of the players in two deep freshmen and sophomores, we were awfully young last year, ” Whitten said. “It was a disappointing season with lots of ups and downs. But we finished the year with some good performances and look for the momentum from a good spring to carry over into preseason camp. The great thing about freshmen and sophomores is they become juniors and seniors. We have an outstanding group of returning players with a strong senior class.”
With Sam Houston State not starting the season until the second weekend of the season, hosting Arkansas-Monticello on Sept. 9, the Bearkats will not be going through the two practices a day schedule once common in practice football.
