Numerous crowds in excess of 30 and 40,000 saw Colgate beat Syracuse, Yale, Princeton and Army in the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. Most recently, 39,929 were at Michie Stadium in October 1987 as Colgate beat Army, 22-20.

2001 - NSU vs. TCU...NSU pulled the OT victory in front of somewhere between 50,000-60,000 in attendence.

As I have stated elsewhere in another thread, Montana has the distinction of winning the highest attended I-AA playoff game (32,106) against Marshall Univ. in in Huntington, WV in 1995. I would guess that this would also be the highest attended victory for the Griz. What a win though. A victory on the opposing teams home field, for the chipper. :hurray: They don't get much sweeter than that.

Id like to find the numbers but there was a pretty large crowd to see the biggest comeback in LU history 31-28 over VMI back in 2003 but Im sure there were much bigger crowds in the early years. Id have to look through the media guide to see just what the biggest crowd EVER was

I was a sophomore at UD when we lost to 19th Ranked (I-A) Temple 21-17 before 37,125 at the VET. We would have won the game but the potential 4Q winning TD was called back due to a procedure penalty. That team had eventual NFL All Pro DT Joe Klecko. Great game though and helped Hens catapult to the DIV-II National Championship game that year.

There were only 33,000 that saw our win over North Carolina in 1999. I'm thinking that the win over South Carolina in 1982 had more fans that either that game or the wins over N.C. State (x2) or Georgia Tech in the 80s.

Of recent vintage, 1983 almost 40,000 at Michie Stadium when Lehigh knocked off Army, 13-12, and in 1987 at Annapolis, another crowd near 40,000 saw Lehigh dump the Midshipmen, 24-9.

The procedure call was against Ray Sweeney, who was named a Little All American . A review of the tapes showed that he was just really quick off the ball and was not "off sides".

Greg Perry filled in for the injured Nate Beasley. Delaware was the better team that day but the refs blew the procedure call. At least 80% of Veteran's Stadium attendance were Delaware fans.

In addition to Klecko Temple also had Delaware Product Steve Watson who caught the winning TD Pass.

For UR, it was probably a 1985 win over VaTech at Blacksburg, most likely 40K fans or so for that game...

I wasn't there of course but we beat Auburn in 1950, 6-0. Records are sketchy but I believe it was 40,000 or so.

I would be willing to bet that in 1996 when Montana beat Oregon State 35-14 in Corvallis -- there were somewhere between 35-40k in attendance that day.
