Duquesne rebounded from its first NEC loss in eight games by topping Sacred Heart this past Saturday at Rooney Field and a pair of weekly award winners were key catalysts in the winning effort. NEC Offensive Player of the Week Sean Patterson accounted for all five of Duquesne’s touchdowns. Meanwhile, linebacker Dorian Bell put together quite the stat line en-route to his second NEC Defensive Player of the Week award this season. Bell, who also earned the Sports Network’s National Defensive Player of the Week honor on October 22, made 4.0 sacks, forced a fumble, and picked off pass. The NEC Special Teams Player of the Week award went to the man who produced the longest kickoff return in NEC play since 2004 – CCSU’s Rob Hollomon. Robert Morris cornerback Marcelis Branch turned in a number of key plays down the stretch of the Colonials’ 37-31 win over CCSU and earned his second NEC Rookie of the Week honor as a result.
