Well then you REALLY won't like Massey's ratings. Of the top 10, 3 MVFC teams and 4 Big Sky teams. Seems like a consensus is forming.

Lehigh is undefeated and still not in the Sagarin top 25?

Who has Lehigh beat? Of those how many close games were there?

Who has anyone in the Patriot league beat?

Noting that his system rates Northern Iowa #9, one can posit the weight that strength of schedule carries in the formula.

Yeah, in the AGS Top 25, of all the teams that even got one vote Lehigh had the lowest SOS of any team not named Drake.

How many times does UNI have to lose to finally drop out of the Sagarin 25 and Why do so many computer rankings like UNI so much?

Close losses to multiple good teams and the best SOS in the country by a mile will help any team in the computer rankings.

Exactly. The computers will rightly punish you less for losing to a FBS or top 10 FCS team than they will reward you for beating St. Mary's School of the Blind by 30.

With that said, I think UNI is too high but they are clearly a top 30 team this year and I really believe they would win the NEC, come in a close 2nd in the Patriot League, win the Pioneer League, win the SWAC, win the MEAC, and finish top 3 in the SLC and OVC. UNI is better than their record indicates for sure.

I almost put Albany in my top 25 this week but almost losing to Sacred Heart killed that for me and showed me that my evals from watching them and saying they aren't a top 25 team in terms of talent is pretty much right. I think Albany is good but I don't think they are like the Robert Morris team who gave NDSU fits that year and I don't see them making noise like Stony Brook or Lehigh might do coming from a non power league.

URI and the fake GSU sure aren't helping.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy... Rank the teams disproportionately high and then when they play each the strength of schedule is disproportionately strong.

Not arguing Lehigh has to be in top 10. I have yet to put them in the top 10 all season myself. But Harvard at 13? They lost to Princeton, who Lehigh beat. Their OOC includes San Diego from Pioneer, and Bucknell and Holy Cross from the Patriot--our two worst teams this year. I've seen the PL ranked just ahead of the Ivy League in computer polls, so in conference Ivy play shouldn't give them an edge. Weird.

Sagarin and Massey rate I-FCS teams as an afterthought, the rankings are laughable at the lower levels.

I generally feel TSN and AGS do a better job of ranking the teams.
