Unfortunately the closest collegiate stadium to me is Laughyette's Fisher Field, about 3 miles to the east. Luckily, Goodman is only 10 miles to the southwest and is able to 'neutralize' the bad vibes emitted from College Hill. (;-) In addition, D3 Moravian College's Steel Field is about 9 miles to the west.

When I'm at my home in the Philly suburbs, Villanova is 30 minutes away, with Penn and Princeton about 45 minutes out. In about an hour, or two-hour radius, I can get to Towson, Morgan State, Delaware, Delaware State, Lehigh, Lafayette, Monmouth, Wagner, Fordham and Stony Brook. It is a fun place to live for FCS.
When I'm at my house outside of Boone, N.C., Appalachian State is 30 minutes away. There are a lot of other schools within a three-hour striking distance, like Wofford, Furman, Elon, Davidson, Winston-Salem State (almost FCS), North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Western Carolina. Liberty is just a little further out and I used to be a couple of hours away from East Tennessee State.
The halfway point between my two homes is quite literally James Madison University. It's 4 1/2 hours in between.

FBS- About 75 miles west of TCF Bank, home of the Gophers
FCS- About 135 miles northeast of Coughlin Alumni Stadium, home of SDSU's Jackrabbits
D2- About 70 miles northwest of historic Blakeslee Field, where the Mavericks of MN State-Mankato graze
About 75 miles southwest of Husky Stadium along the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Cloud
About 72 miles northeast of the Regional Event Center, home of the Southwest State Golden Mustangs
D3- About 39 miles north of The Bowl of Martin Luther College in the city of charm and tradition, New Ulm.
About 52 miles west of Storm Field, where Crown plays near St. Bonifacius.
About 60 miles northwest of Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter, hangout for the Golden Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus
JC- About 44 miles southeast of Hodapp Field, where the Ridgewater Warriors share the field with the Willmar HS Cardinals.
I'm not counting all of the other D3 schools that are in the Twin Cities.
I'm also two and a half miles from Buffalo Lake where I played in high school, and two and a half miles from Hector who was our biggest rivals. Now the two have combined with Stewart. So maybe I live in the center of the universe. xsmiley_wix

I think ASU Fanatic meant that UNCC is 15 minutes closer to him than ASU, not that he was 15 minutes from UNCC. His location is given as "L-town" which I am going to guess is Lincolnton (or thereabouts) so not particularly close to the Triad (at least in comparison to Boone).

Obviously the U of Minn's stadium is the closest for me.
For FCS I figured NDSU, SDSU and UNI would be reasonably equidistant and they basically are. Fargo is a bit farther than Brookings and Cedar Falls but not significantly.
Now, most certainly markets like Duluth, St. Cloud, Mankato, Eau Claire and La Crosse could support FCS football. But...no dice so far.

This is a perfect example of the "AGS logical fallacy". You knew exactly what I meant and that it made sense. But you gave a reply in such a way as to imply that I meant something different, which seems like it could be correct to a casual viewer - but of course is dead wrong.

Actually you are the one who is engaging in a fallacy. You conflate "markets" with "schools". It isn't a market that defines a school's ability to support a sports team. People from Menominee aren't going to go to Eau Claire just to watch a football game. Most of the schools on your list wouldn't be able to engage alumni or community support to support a budget required to be in FCS, so the market is completely irrelevant.
I went to St. Cloud State and got my Master's Degree at UWEC so I know what I'm talking about.

Altitude counts, which is most of New Mexico and northern Arizona, in making the climate more hospitable. Santa Fe and Flagstaff can cost ya, but the rest is affordable. Las Cruces is a big retirement zone for ex-military and federal service workers. You are a small town guy, and that will expand your options to include smaller places like Silver City (college town-WNMU-a few hours to Tucson) and Ruidoso (a few hours to El Paso), and the whole region to the north of Santa Fe. Albuquerque is 600K+ at a mile high and I like it. UNM has had horrible fball, but Bob Davies has them relevant in his first season. Tickets are easy to come by, and I think the town will return to University Stadium ... where are you gonna go?

There's rumors flying around the MVC (not the MVFC) that NMSU (and maybe Denver as well) might end up in the MVC for all sports except football given that NMSU was in it at one other point.
Most fans seem willing to accept them back as well.

Hey thanks, that is good info. When I was in grad school I talked to the recruiters from Los Alamos- obviously didn't get the job and stayed in Minnesota. I've been to El Paso for the Sun Bowl, to Las Cruces on a visit. I've been warned about Phoenix by relatives- had one relative and also a HS classmate who loved Flagstaff. Its crazy that New York City is the largest city in the United States and it doesn't have a top notch College Football team. I always think about it. College Football is simply not popular in NYC. People don't get crazy about it. There is large alumni bases of schools outside of NYC that may care but for the most part CFB is not relevant. NFL NYG/NYJ own the town...

Visited Tuscaloosa on business and our local manager, an alum of Alabama, drove me around the campus. seemed like a real nice place. Was amazed at the size of the parking lot which appeared to have a capacity of a few hundred, if that many, cars. My guide told me people park everywhere and that if you are not tailgating post game you need to park a mile or so away so that you can actually get out.
Also, I am not comfortable with heights and that the recent add ons above the end zones are not for me.
Anyway, really enjoyed the unofficial tour with a bit of history thrown in and bought a Bama tee shirt. Roll Tide.
Whoops, my bad, quoted the wrong post.

From my house Holy Cross is almost equal to Dartmouth...HC is 60.2 miles away. The closest out of state school is Harvard at 51.4 miles. FBS, BC is closest at 53.3 miles.
