Not sure, but that statue is not the 'sioux' logo so I don't see why it would have to be taken down. Pretty sure it was there during the UND NDSU basketball game.

This is the Memorial to the players and staff that died in the 1960 plane crash following the game with Bowling Green. It is located at the East entrance to Spanos Stadium.

Some pretty awesome looking statues, but how are y'all able to upload such large image files? I always have a hell of a time doing so when I try. Seems they usually get shrunk into a little thumbnail sized image that you have to click on.

There is a massive Jackrabbit statue about 2 blocks from where I live in AZ. Every time I drive by it, I wish we could pick it up and drop it somewhere in campus back in Brookings.

Apparently it's been changed to a golden eagle since I've graduated, because it was a bald eagle initially (first photo).
We still need a giant eagle statue, which I think is in the plans for outside the stadium once the Gateway Project is complete.

During the late semester, a bunch of temp structures from the art students pop up around campus. No one knows what they mean.

I believe that those form part of the Orion constellation sculpture, because Boone is considered the "brightest star or the constellation of communities that dot the Blue Ridge Mountains"...or something like that.

Purchased in 1888 with funds from $1 student fees for makeup exams. Located in the New York Normal School at 88 Willett St.
Rescued from a fire by custodian Charles Wurtham at the NY Normal College in 1906.
Stood in the rotunda of Draper Hall at the NY State College for Teachers for over six decades.
Appeared on the cover of The Saturday Review in 1962.
Now graces the lobby of Science Library
First appeared in the college seal in 1913.

Art student Brian Caverly sculpted "Damien", the larger-than-life Great Dane, which is now on display in the lobby of the University's main sports complex, the Recreation and Convocation Center (RACC). The bronze sculpture was a gift to the University from the Class of 1999.
