Mid-season attendance averages show strong gains at some Ivy League schools--so much so that the weakest Ivy team in attendance (Columbia) would be in the top half of the Patriot League averages. What is contributing to the increase with these Ivies...and the lack of gains in PL attendance?
Ivy:
Yale: 10,111, down 36% (net average less Harvard game last year)
Cornell: 9,850, up 37%
Penn: 9,364, down 9%
Brown: 8,973, up 77%
Harvard: 8,039, down 36%
Princeton: 8,032, up 11%
Dartmouth: 6,145, up 5%
Columbia: 5,962, up 35%
Patriot:
Lafayette: 7,906, up 67%
Holy Cross: 7,112, up 1%
Lehigh: 7,040, up 1% (net average less Lafayette game last year)
Fordham: 4,377, down 9%
Bucknell: 4,336, up 2%
Colgate: 4,290, up 7%
Georgetown: 2,684, up 4%

Any particular reason why Brown and Lafayette attendance shot up so much.

The blizzard game between Bucknell and Lafayette (@ Lafayette) from last year probably skewed last years numbers downward

Crowds can be fickle. The weather and opponent have a lot to do with the number. For Lafayette this is more of a return to normal after having a poor team the last two years.
For Brown the Harvard game may have something to do with the numbers. They typically get a very good crowd when they host Harvard.

Cornell, Brown and Columbia (three otherwise weaker teams attendance wise for Ivies) got excellent weather on their homecomings, and drew sizeable crowds.
Have many PL teams had their homecomings yet?
Dartmouth had a night game against Butler (again, great weather) and that probably drew an extra 2-3,000 people.

Every PL school but Bucknell has hosted a Homecoming game, the Bison event is this weekend.

What about the Lehigh - Lafayette game...doesn't that skew the averages for whoever is the host team...and it's the last game of the regular season?
Also, not sure about enrollment, but doesn't Cornell have a large student population - say 13,000 or so undergrads? Maybe the students are attending games? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't several of the IVY's significantly larger than the PL schools?

Was thinking the same thing about Harvard-Yale being down due to "The Game" being part of previous hear's numbers.
Interesting stuff regardless. I'll bet you can layer in the weather for last year's games v this year's and it would explain a lot of the changes, but it's just a hunch.

Harvard and Yale will see their averages go up over the last 4 weeks. Harvard will have 30k for Yale, and there is a good chance, if the weather is good and Princeton stays hot, Princeton-Yale could draw 30k too.

And if Princeton wins that game, expect about 15,000+ in New Jersey for the season finale against Dartmouth.
