The Citadel has really fallen off after their hot start so that win isnt as good as it lookied initially. They lost a big chance to gain some credibility against App but they have a huge game this weekend against GSU that could not only affect their ranking potential but could turn the at large race on its ear.

Very, very good poll, IMO.

Sacramento State should be ranked at this point, whether it's over Delaware, SD State or otherwise. That's my primary disagreement.

Lehigh is too high; I'd likely straight swap Indiana State and Lehigh in the poll. Indiana State has the best FCS win of the season along with a second top 25 win @ Southern Illinois. That's TWO top 25 road wins.

Are you referring to the main poll? ODU is 4 spots ahead of UNH, probably right where they should be. I'd say the teams are basically even, since ODU was at home and it was a 3 point game. Played at UNH, the result is probably reversed and the defenses might have been a little better since it wouldn't have been 100 degrees on the field.

Wait...you can't rank them higher because Richmond beat them?

Oh boy.

Richmond W- Gardner Webb (Home); VMI (Away); Georgia State (Away); Villanova (home); James Madison (Home)
Richmond L- Virginia (Away); New Hampshire (Away); ODU (Home)

Villanova W- Fordham (Home); URI (Home); Penn (Away); Maine (Away); ODU (Away); Georgia State (Away)
Villanova L- Temple (Away); Richmond (Home)

I think the schedules are arguable...but...Nova's away games have me leaning to ranking them higher than the 25 spot you have them in.

JMU had a higher floor than Richmond had a ceiling really. The loss to what has been a very mediocre UVa squad put them behind the 8 ball to start, and then the wins over VMI, G-W and GSU, though wins, didnt really tell me much about them as far as moving up into the rankings. Good to see them get a big win after losing their last two shots at a top 25 team from the conference in ODU and UNH.

Once they beat somebody decent they'll probably move up. The lopsided loss at home to North Dakota (not North Dakota State) makes people keep them off the ballots. Sac St's only wins this year are over the bottom of the Big Sky and a bad Colorado team (although still FBS).

This might be the worst poll I've seen from AGS voters in the three years I've been voting. I have no problem with ranking Southern Illinois based on their recent streak, but how does E. Illinois not even get a vote? How does Georgia State get more votes than Bethune-Cookman? Things aren't supposed to be transitive, but SCSU beat Ga. State's *** in Atlanta. BCU beat SCSU pretty convincingly in Orangeburg. oh well. . .things will eventually work themselves out.

Dude, GaState's inclusion was clearly someone accidentally placing them in the number two slot instead of Georgia Southern and the flaggers just missed it. Both teams have Georgia S in their name so it's understandable it could be missed on any quick glance.

True, but like someone said earlier, it's hard to believe that the committee didn't catch it. I served on committee last year and know how hard this can be; but it's baffling.

Oh and I don't mind. . .I can justify all of my rankings; doesn't mean you're going to agree with it. Just like I don't agree with some of this poll.

1: Georgia Southern Eagles

3: North Dakota State Bison

Nope, I was specifically referring to the Georgia State, Eastern Illinois situation. . the only reason Cal Poly and NAU are as low as they are in my poll is because they started from outside the poll. They both have FBS wins, but neither has gotten the additional signature wins vs FCS teams required to break my perception of the teams who won in last years playoffs or had a signature win. If they keep it up, they'll get there.

Youngstown was in my top ten three weeks ago. Indiana State didn't enter my poll until last week. Illinois State was hanging onto my top ten last week. The loss was horrible, but they still have a win over Eastern Illinois and Youngstown State. The Citadel is the lone outlier in my poll, but I continue to be impressed by their wins over App and Ga. Southern. They were once in my top ten as well. If they lose to Wofford, their out, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt; especially considering that they are now ahead of App in the SoCon standings.

It's baffling? Really? Bull****. It was one ballot and the dude that submitted that ballot did not PROPERLY put his email in and that creates a problem in that it does not get to agspoll or the person submitting the vote until I find it on the sheet.

I'm looking at a sheet and see it, then have to fix it and send it out and it got missed in the flurry that is a Monday morning madhouse with the poll.

The only reason it's baffling (which means you think it should be easy to catch) is because YOU nave never tried to keep the 100+ votes, emails, usernames, and every other little thing running on the end where the calculations, resubmissions, and errors are corrected.

If you had you would take exception to someone that had not even attempted to do this saying that this **** is "baffling".

Baffling my ***.

BTW, in case it wasn't clear to anyone else there was one guy that put GA State in at #2.

Why is EIU not getting any votes but SIU is ranked #23?

EIU has 3 losses to #19 ISU and #27 UTM
FBS loss to W Michigan
Record of these teams 15-9 just FCS losses 12-4
Record of teams defeated 12-17

SIU has 3 losses to #16 Indy St and unranked EIU by 21
FBS loss to Miami Ohio
Of these teams 13-13 just FCS losses 10-9
Record of teams defeated 16-21

Both FBS teams have 2 wins against low low level FBS and 1 FCS win.

Both teams record are comparable but EIU beat SIU and gets zero votes.

Problem is if you look at the win against NDSU their offense scored 3 points. I have them ranked but I'm not sold on their offense as of yet. They didn't win that game against NDSU so much as NDSU lost or beat themselves. Don't get me wrong they won period and yes that is what matters but it does make me question their offense. They keep playing defense and improve offensively they will be a tough team come playoff time.

Maybe better resume? A big part of the reason NDSU didn't fall far after losing to ISUb was that they were overwhelming favorites for #1 to begin with - maybe watching them get back to form and smash USD got a lot of voters back on the bandwagon. Both have a loss, but NDSU is 2-1 vs. AGS top-25 teams vs. 1-0 for GSU. NDSU has a slightly tougher schedule according to Sagarin. NDSU has a top-5 win, which GSU does not (though Wofford was obviously a great win).

Point in case, NDSU's margin over GSU is pretty slim. If NDSU beats SIU and GSU beats 'Nooga, that margin should only increase.

maybe watching them get back to form and smash USD got a lot of voters back on the bandwagon.

Because smashing a 1-win team on a neutral field says a lot more than beating a 2-win team at their place.

And just to throw this out there, our 1 loss was in the 2nd week on the road by 2. NDSU's loss was at home by 3, just the other week. Still don't see the justification for a win over South Dakota to push NDSU over GS.

losing a fumble doesn't count for 7 points. Your team has 13 fumbles lost on the year, and had 2 against the citadel. In the last 1.5 seasons, your team has over 30 fumbles lost. NDSU tossed three picks, 2 for td's, after tossing 4 total is the previous 20 games. In the last season and a half, that's 7 interceptions.

One of these was a statistical aberration, the other was not.

blah blah NAU, NAU, blah, blah, blah NAU, NAU. . .you are the biggest homer on this board. Your team will get their props from me as soon as they get another signature FCS win. They beat Montana to get in my poll but now Montana is 3 - 5. So now you're going to need another signature win to break into the top ten. They beat Montana to get in my poll but now Montana is 3 - 5. So now you're going to need another signature win to break into the top ten. Last years playoff winners earned the benefit of the doubt; while Cal Poly is undefeated.

If it's exceeding (ly) idiotic to use preseason rankings as a justification for current rankings then explain Montana State and James Madison.

Where is Lehigh's signature, top 10 worthy win? I can't seem to find it. Monmouth? Princeton?

Maybe Towson last year? Or was it maybe in 1979 when they went to the National Championship?

Lehigh really didn't have a signature win last year but rather a close loss to UNH. I just don't see the difference between last years slate and this years. Liberty is basically where they were last year. If they beat CCU this week they'll likely play SBU for the Big South title.

The PL in general relies on regional scholarship programs(nec, caa and big south) and traditional ivies to fill out their schedules. I have zero problem with how they conduct business. Every school has less desirable schedules every so often. This year happened to be LU's blah slate. I have no desire to watch Lehigh play FBS money games or D2 teams.

Mt ballot this week for honest evaluation and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism (please no fanboy sounding responses):

1: Georgia Southern Eagles
2: Eastern Washington Eagles
3: North Dakota State Bison
4: Cal Poly Mustangs
5: Sam Houston State Bearkats
6: Lehigh Mountain Hawks
7: Old Dominion Monarchs
8: James Madison Dukes
9: Wofford Terriers
10: New Hampshire Wildcats
11: Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
12: Albany Great Danes
13: Appalachian State Mountaineers
14: Central Arkansas Bears
15: Stony Brook Seawolves
16: The Citadel Bulldogs
17: Indiana State Sycamores
18: Eastern Kentucky Colonels
19: Richmond Spiders
20: Towson Tigers
21: Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks
22: Tennessee State Tigers
23: South Dakota State Jackrabbits
24: Southern Illinois Salukis
25: Villanova Wildcats

I'll say it. I think Lehigh is to high at 6. They still lack consistency to beat high level teams. Otherwise, not bad.

Biggest homer? Nah, just want NAU to get recognition - no different than any number of other posters.
Why should last year's results have anything to do with this year? Teams graduate players, get new players - giving them a benefit of a doubt because they were good last year is, well, not optimal.

I sincerely hope you aren't counting on Liberty becoming your signature win, as the 3-5 Grizzlies DOMINATED Liberty (I think you were even in attendance that day). I know LU had them at their place and the Griz were at home, but that doesn't equate an 18 point difference, especially considering half the teams so far this year have (NAU and SUU) walked out of Wa-Griz with W's already this year.

But it's not illogical as you said earlier. Winning playoff games, and playoff performance gets you in the poll. . . winning or losing games in the current season puts you out of or lets you move up in my rankings.

I know you're advocating for your team; but it was your choice of words. I further expanded on my position.

As of today that win doesn't mean too much. However, should Liberty continue to emerge as SBU's main challenger it will carry more weight. Same with SFA and the Southland.

Liberty is a bit of an enigma. Got roughed up by Montana, lost to Norfolk St but almost beat Wake Forest and Lehigh.

The story hasn't been written yet. A lot will change from now until November 18th.

Actually, I really do think Colgate is a much different team from those first two games. Their offense has really taken off and will score on most anyone. They still have defensive issues though. The Colgate game scares me the most.

On Lehigh, there are times when the look like a top 10 team, and other times when they look like they should be unranked. They still have yet to put together a full game. Against Bucknell for about half the third quarter, they looked awful and gave up two touchdowns leaving Bucknell a 2-point conv away from a 21-21 tie. They they scored 3 TDs and had a fourth drive stopped by a horrible back foot pass that our QB is prone to.

I think this is a case of expecting too much from your team. You have high hopes because your team has done exceptionally well over the last 10 years. They are performing well this year also. I think 17th is a little low, actually. Know that there are some very, very poor football teams in the FCS. Hell, the OVC and Southland might get two teams each into the playoffs.

I don't like counting what wins were at the time. If you go by that, Albany has a top 25 win over Maine and New Hampshire has a win over a 2-5 Maine. I'd rather say they both have wins over a 2-5 Maine. Polls are so iffy during the season, because you don't know the exact quality of each team. It's just a perceived rating. You're saying Richmond beat Villanova when we perceived the Wildcats to not be a top 25 team, so it doesn't count as a top 25 win. In my mind, that's a sketchy way to reward win quality. Another example. App. St beat a top 15 Montana team. North Dakota beat a not even receiving votes Montana team. Does that mean App. State's win should be counted as a much better win than North Dakota's? xtwocentsx
