Maybe bulletin board material but i don't think any of those scores are way off base. The Georgia-WKU game might be closer because Georgia is going to have some fresh faces in key spots and Duke-Richmond might be a little optimistic.
SO ILLmatic

IMO the Cincy-EKU will be closer than that.
And App St. and ILL St. will be able to score more than just kicking a field goal.

I don't see NCSt holding App to 3, UCF will defeat Villanova by more than 25, Notre Dame will beat Ga Tech by more than 7 and Oklahoma will be lucky to beat UAB.
UGA will name the score on WKU, too many athletes, 5 td margin seems about right.

The Illinois State/K-State game should be much closer than that, considering K-State is picked to finish last in a very poor Big XII North Division.

I don't think Illinois St. will play too close to KSU. I'd say about a 10-20 loss.

Isn't it easy to predict that a I-A will crush a I-AA. These folks obviously have no clue about the I-AAs. I'm picking Richmond over Duke and App State over North Carolina State in the opening week. Bad week for the ACC:hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

I have a problem with:
South Florida 28 McNeese State 8
If I'm wrong, I'd certainly accept that without argument. But this seems to be a winnable game for McNeese State.

The Bulls from South Florida are going to be decent this year. They kind of remind of me of Central Florida, in the way that they are starting to rebuild their program in a new conference. It cant hurt to be able to have the recruiting possibilities that their home state of Florida offers and be in a BCS conference.
South Florida has an outstanding group of linebackers and I think they will be one of the reasons why McNeese will have trouble playing with them.

The Sportsline 47-3 prediction of Kansas State over Illinois State is just plain stupid. Where do they get these people? This KSU team should not be near the challenge of Iowa State or Minnesota (IAs the Birds played in the previous two seasons). ISU lost both of those games, but both were very tight games.
By all accounts, ISU will field a top notch team this year. Can't wait to see that game roll around now, and think back on what a freaking joke Sportsline predictions really are! Another poster was right on point when they pointed out how IAA teams are really being undersold.

*Arizona State 49 Northern Arizona 10 = good call
*Boise State 48 Sacramento State 7 = good call
*Central Florida 32 Villanova 6 = UCF is down this year & Nova will score 14.
*Cincinnati 30 Eastern Kentucky 7 = Too much respect for Cinci
*Colorado 41 Montana State 3 = MSU scores twice (10)
*Colorado State 39 Weber State 7 = WSU scores 10.
*Connecticut 36 Rhode Island 6 = good call
*Duke 28 Richmond 6 = too much respect for Duke (17-7 Duke)
*Georgia 44 Western Kentucky 7 = about right, WKU is better than that, but GA's offense is too strong & too different for WKU.
*Illinois 37 Eastern Illinois 13 (too much respect for EIU 31-3)
*Iowa 35 Montana 10 = about right
*Kansas 36 Northwestern State 3 (KU will never score 36 points on anyone)
*Kansas State 47 Illinois State 3 (ILS will score much more than 3 points, 34-17 KSU)
*Maryland 33 William & Mary 7 (a little too high on MD here. Game will be very close until late)
*Missouri 48 Murray State 9 (about right, maybe 42-3)
*New Mexico 31 Portland State 3 (much closer, PSU could win this)
*North Carolina State 28 Appalachian State 3 (much closer)
*Ohio 28 Tennessee-Martin 9 (about right)
*Oklahoma State 44 Missouri State 8 (a little too much respect for OKS, maybe 34-14)
*Oregon State 42 Eastern Washington 7 (what are they seeing in the Beavers? Am I missing something? EWU could win this.)
*South Florida 28 McNeese State 8 (good call)
*Texas A&M 35 The Citadel 6 (about right)
*Tulsa 38 Stephen F. Austin 10 (way too much respect for Tulsa)
*UNLV 31 Idaho State 3 (way too much respect for UNLV)
*Virginia Tech 49 Northeastern 6 (UVa could score 49, but won't)

*Ar*Central Florida 32 Villanova 6 = UCF is down this year & Nova will score 14.
UCF is far from down this year. In fact they return about 50 lettermen from their C-USA division champ team from last year that lost the shootout of a bowl game in Hawaii.
Not only is the talent pool far superior, UCF has the home field advantage of the central FL heat AND humidity which will make the depth difference that much more pronounced. UCF is rebuilding its program (last year was a great year for them going from zero wins to 8), returns a boatload of starters and will want to make a statement. This one will get real ugly if O'Leary wants it to.

I'd like to be optimistic, but I can't see a I-AA team winning any of those games. I think the Appy St game and certainly the Richmond game scores are a little too lopsided, but on the whole the rest are pretty accurate. As much as we'd like to think otherwise, there haven't been a lot of I-AA's beating IA's recently, and especially not a lot once you get rid of the games versus the Sun Belt (which is really only psuedo IA anyway - easy way to pad the stats).

I-AA wins several games a year against I-A teams in a given year. And there are always several near misses. I can think of three games, Cincinnati against Western Carolina, Indiana against Nicholls State and whoever played Kentucky, where the I-As were downright lucky to win.

Not that I think MSU will win this, or even that we will put a bunch of points on the board with all of the questions on the offensive side, but I just don't see CU putting up 41 points in this game. They have a ton of questions on offense as well and in their first game in the re-engineered Hawkins offense I just don't think things will be clicking that well yet. I see this one as more of a defensive games with both O's struggling to find themselves.

Kentucky took the lead on a 99 yard kickoff return to avoid the "potentially embarassing" defeat. Idaho State went on to be... what? 5-6 and 3-4 in the Big Sky?

UC-Davis punched Stanford in the mouth 20-17 last season. I'm sure there were other I-AA wins over I-A schools.

Right 20-17, and the game wasn't even that close. Stanford is lucky they only lost by 3. UCD could easily have won this game by 10-14 points, and at Stanford. Stanford scoed 2 defensive TD's, and UCD missed on 3 other scroring opportunities.

Last year was the first real "dry" year for I-AAs against I-As in awhile ... 2-50 with the only wins being UC Davis and Northwestern State.
Three of the six wins in 2004 came against Florida International, so I'm going to tend to discount those a bit since FIU was just barely out of I-AA.
10-54 in '03; 7-52 in '02 ... definitely some precedent.
The only legitimate shot I see in this first week is the Duke-Richmond game. Nothing against App, I just think NC State plays at a much higher level than someone like Duke. That's just a tough draw. We'll see, though.
Oh, and if Virginia Tech wanted to, it could hang 120 on Northeastern. That may be one of the biggest mismatches I've ever seen.

I think you're 1-AA homerness is getting in the way of logic.
-Cincy while not being world beaters returns just about everyone from last year. A lot of these guys were pretty good recruits from 2004, the move to the Big East gave them a boost. Also when was the last team EKU was a Top 25 1-AA team?? EKU has not done enough in 1-AA in a mediocre conference at best to suggest they could possibly beat Cincy.
-I can't anyway that the Montana Iowa game is close, barring a Tate broken leg. Kirk Ferentz is too good of a coach to let his team sleepwalk against Montana. I'm sure football players from the midwest are also pretty familiar with Griz football. I can't see anyway Montana gets closer than 24.
-Kansas will beat Nw St. by 20+. The Jayhawks have gotten better under Mangino, especially defensively. It would take a very very good 1-AA team to beat a top 50 Kansas team.
