Pretty close guys. Don't forget this past weekends race.

Most of petty's wins came before nascar was really organized and although he has the mostat 200, the majority of those came at local traks when the compitition was not there.

Jeff Gordon 71 wins

Four tracks, Tx, Phoenix, Chicago and Miami.

So there should be two more people above Gordon besides Petty who vie for the most wins or at least one.

Although the numbers are correct, none except Petty, Earnhardt have more championships than Gordon, 7 each. Pearson has 3, as does Waltrip. Who by the way stated during the second race as much as it pained him to say it Gordon was more than likely the best driver NASCAR has ever seen. Also as I stated most of Pett's win came way before nascar was organized as did a few others listed. It would be like counting wins at your local track because it is affiliated with nascar.

With Petty, I think back when he was racing, they would race 2 or 3 times a week.
