View Full Version : Chatty at El Cid

CID1990
September 29th, 2012, 06:30 PM
3-0 El Cid at end of 1Q.

Dogs driving. Chatty looks weak on offense. On D Chatty is starting to look confused. All kinds of things can happen, but right now I like our chances. Our runners have been running over their LBs and our D has stuffed Mini TBone twice.

CID1990
September 29th, 2012, 06:33 PM
Dogs have fumbled 3 times. Haven't lost any, but 3 drives stalled because of it.

Chatty has speed at the corners so we are going to Darien Robinson up the middle for about 5 yards a pop.

CID1990

TD Mocs. We ran Robinson all over the backfield and left the Chatty receiver alone in the end zone. They are a different team with Robinson in the game.

Time to tighten up and git er done.

As a long time Moc fan, I feel that we are perfectly capable of blowing this lead...but I hope not!

We'll see. This is the first time we will have had to mount a comeback from this many points down.

The Huesman-Robinson combo seems to have confused our D somewhat, but our flatfooted play on offense is what is killing us.

Both played a lot vs S Florida...then Robinson had his tantrum and quit...benched for JSU...I guess still in purgatory vs ASU...guess he is out of the dog house....he is lining up at RB and WR when he is in the game with Huesman. Both have played a lot.

The score in this quarter needs to be at least 12-0 for us to win. Well see if our D can find an answer.

chattanoogamocs
September 29th, 2012, 08:02 PM
Why then did it take this long?

In spring ball and the pre-season all they talked about was how both QBs would be in the field and you wouldn't know which was going to get the ball...that T-Rob could be a RB or WR...and Jacob could be a WR (all positions they played in high school).

And they said they would quick snap and call multiple plays with no huddle.

Then the season happened and it was a bunch of vanilla play calls and quickly going to the line, but then just standing there. Even the media last week was asking what was up with the play calling.

This is what we were looking for...of course, it doesn't mean a win...Mocs were up 24-0 against these guys last year at the half and only got 3 points in the 2nd half. After all those 1 and 2 points losses, there isn't a Moc fan on Earth that would be counting any chickens before they hatch.

We had no answer for Robinson. They ate us up on defense as well.

One observation- there is absolutely no reason why Chatty should be going with Huesman at QB. When he was in there, we were eating them up. Then they went with Robinson and it was game on. I think their coach cost them a shot at the playoffs this year by playing his son over Robinson in previous games.

Huesman 11-14 for 86 yards, 14 carries for 80 yards, threw for TD...Robinson 4-5 for 73 yards and a TD, 22 carries for 97 yards and a TD...I think having them both in the game and using them both worked out tonight....Would have liked to have seen this vs ASU last week. But, just have to look to the next game and hope for similar results.

I know the stats, but I also saw the game. Huesman couldn't get it going until the coach started rotating Robinson in to take snaps. Huesman's performance was stimulated by Robinson. Guarantee you that if Huesman had ridden the pine Chatty would have had 1-2 more scores. Robinson is the better player and Huesman should be his understudy and that's it.

Oh my God we looked horrible. I knew it would be close, but they controlled the tempo from about half through the second half. Passing looked pretty good (improving), but they had our number on the option. They usually play the option well, but they must have gotten some extra pointers from the NC ST game. On D we had a couple moments of brilliance with clutch stops early on, but when he came in, Robinson was too athletic. We let them sustain too many drives. How they could ever think of not playing this guy, for Jr, is beyond me. We may have just gave the SOCON to Wofford with this loss, but it is still early, I suppose.

Woffard is the only team that has played consistant and at a high level for the first 5 games, they look really well coached and playing with alot of confidence. But liked stated, they still have the toughest games of the season to play. I think we will find out how good when they come to Boone, App has totally dominated Woffard in Boone, do not believe they have ever won there.

The defense was stout in limiting the Bulldogs attack and*the offense was even more impressive. Its four scoring drives went 78, 82, 85 and 85 yards on the evening. The Mocs held a 33:41-26:19 advantage in time of possession, 29:18 to 15:42 over the final three quarters.

I think the biggest difference here was the line of scrimmage. Chatty did precisely the same thing NCSU did- they controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball.

If our OL is a problem then we'll see it again next week against Samford.

Not even close. It was a road loss, and our first Socon game for Izzy. If we lost this one at home and later in the season, I would agree.
